Here is what IGN are calling a leaked doc regarding a tablet. Look at the specs carefully below the tablet spec. That is so blatently the new xbox "720" or Durango spec

Link

Just look. A 16 core processor, 5Gig or ram a custom AMD GPU supporting 11.1 direct x. This is what the new xbox will be. The tablet will come included with the new console for the Smartglass feature unveiled at e3. Mark my words the next gen is here and going on these specs its going to rock

Exactly :) although IGN seems to think it's a tablet spec lol. Idiots. I know its not what would be considered a top end PC custom spec (although 16 core CPU is) but those specs on a console where coding is efficient for the hardware of the console and we can fairly certainly say that this console is incredible and the graphics will be awesome and a 1400p output is greater than 1080p too. Very interesting I say :)

If that's what we get then it helps to justify the extra time we've had to wait for next gen. I honestly can't see them putting all that in a console though, two multi core cpus, effectively a genuine 7 series gpu, 5gb RAM, there's basically no corners cut anywhere.

I live in hope, but I certainly don't expect.

EDIT

It's not a 16 core cpu is it? Looks to me like it's a pair of hex cores.

Its deffo the next Xbox, The Register reported on this this morning.

:edit: Just checked link. THis isnt the same thing that the rest of 'tinternet is talking about at the moment (real xbox leak)

Considering Microsoft already have a Surface device, i would assume it's something similar.

Erm why does it have to be one or the other? That image seems to have a clear heading for the "Tablet Computing Device" and the "Stationary Computing Device". Am I missing something ?

Looks like two separate devices, and what a lot of people are expecting I think after the new Nintendo console has the whole tablet controller/console thing going on.

Well a few months ago it was leaked that the new xbox would have a 16 core cpu and a 7000 series GPU. This has 16 cores (4 of which are also rumoured to be dedictaed to the Kinect 2 device) and this custom 1.2gig amd gpu could very well be a 7000 series

I agree the Ram seems excessive but with these resolutions, and the needs of games now 5 gig in a console is still in line with development really. Remember the origional xbox had 64 IO think. 360 has 512 so 5 gig for another generation leap seems in line almost

At e3 they announced smart glass for the 360 which is using a tablet to control your xbox. It makes sense to include a tablet with the next gen xbox as smart glass will be a standard feature

so it shows the specs of the tablet included with the new xbox :)

If it's 28nm, it essentially is.

I'll get giddy when it's confirmed though because that is way beyond what I was expecting.

I still don't see where it says 16 cores though? 2 cpus with 6 active cores per cpu, 12?

Oooops I mean 12 cores lol I got a bit ahead of myself lol but still 12 cores will still rock lol

No it doesn't. At E3 they said themselves that people already own tablets and mobiles. They don't want you to have to buy a Win 8 tablet to use Smartglass. So including one with the next gen 360 seems ridiculous as people will already own one or have bought one to use with the 360. You will be looking at upping the price another £150+ by including a tablet. They are already competing with the Wii U by offering the app on all devices so the hardware doesn't need to be a standard.

Saying that if it was a standalone device like a handheld console but in tablet form. I could get down with that. So long as it was primarily for gaming on the go.

Ahhh I see there is 2 devices on that sheet. What the hell is 22.2 surround sound and why would anyone be using that?

It makes sense as MS will want to one up Nintendo by giving a tablet with the console (im not arguing just my opinion lol). Why not include a "tablet" with enough sepc to make it the perfect companion with the new xbox, all the right software already loaded on and fits with the same design asthetic of the new console. It doesnt have to add much to the price of the console as unlike Nintendo, MS and Sony fully understand they need to lose money on each console sold (like they did with the PS3 and 360) to make the machine affordeble without cutting on performance and they make their money back on xbox live, controllers etc. Also with the US now doing the mobile like subscription based idea for their console theres no reason why that wont happen here where for 24 months you'll pay like £15 per month and pay an upfront fee of £100 bringing the console to a cost of £460. I think this is how its going :)

Thinking about it the document is Called Xbox Surface. So why does IGN think the whole article is about only a tablet lol idiots. I say the new Xbox is called the Xbox Surface :)

£460 for a console :O

I get the subscription based payment for the 360. The hardware is much cheaper. But for a new console... someone misses a payment and no longer wants to pay? That's a very big loss.

When did the 360 ever cost over £400! It's not a PS3 and that is why the PS3 failed at launch. Even Jack Trenton agreed with that.
