Everything I Sell On eBay And There's ALWAYS A Problem

Ditto, I dont know what these people are doing wrong, its not rocket science.

Yea because no one is out to scam people on Ebay.

Once this is out of the way, start putting terms and conditions in your auctions, enable the no refunds option in the auction and state that it's fully working, tested, record videos/images etc so that someone looking to scam you will think twice about trying it on.

Means little if they paid with paypal.

Paypal/Ebay dispute resolution isn't very robust and they'll find with the buyer even if the seller has been very careful and honest, and the buyer is clearly being a fanny. So no matter how careful you are... like Justin says if you pay by Paypal you can't assume you'll not get scammed.

Yeah hitting about 900 sales atm and trust me its a minefield, 1 neg in 9yrs though so i can't be doing it all wrong :D Have been scammed three times and paypal were no help, luckily its less than 200 quid overall in bits so haven't been taken hard.

It's all about what you sell. Things like electronics, esp. PC parts is going to be a minefield and thats why I use forum sales boards to get rid of my old PCs.

Generally eBay is neither great nor bad, I've been selling since 2003 and got my first neg last year when I decided to sell a camera there.

i sell everything from Ceramic plates, graphics cards, cars, musical instruments, cloths, records all sorts and its very rare I have any problems and when I have paypal have never sided with the buyer.

.

I don't have that privelege, banned yrs ago for helping someone as i do in a mm thread yet it was classed as spam :D

Just sold a perfectly good working HD6950 graphics card and a week later i get this message ...

"hi,

After all weekend of testing the hd6950,

I have installed all the software and saphire trixx

this will not run games like battlefield 3,
rage or even skyrim as it crashes after 5 - 10 mins. i have been intouch with saphire and they say if it crashes at 72 oC then it has been overclocked for a long period of time and can not be recovered,

I am not happy with this as i paid a lot of money and could have bought a brand new one for a little more.

I have more investigation to do but wanted to let you know this"

Here we go again. Look's like the fella has killed my old card which i never had any bother with. He'll file a dispute ,get his money back and i'll get a dud card returned.

That's it. Me and eBay are finished.

Did you write "Sold as Seen" on the original advert on Ebay?

If so then he has no comeback by "finding it faulty." And you can point Ebay and Paypal to the fact. If I ever sell anything these days, even if I know it works perfectly (even on the MM) I always state sold as seen, to protect myself from this sort of scam.

That doesnt really mean squat on ebay though.

I mean if this guy is ALWAYS having problems its got to be something he is doing.

I sold an old q6600. The fella said it was overheating and he was always getting the blue screen of death. Paypal gave him a refund. I had the cpu tested and it came back 100% working. I did resell this for more money :D

I sold a Phenom 965 in it's original packaging. The fella said 4 of the pins were bent and he wanted a £30 refund to fix it. I refused. He filed a dispute and Paypal gave him a refund. Again the item was returned and there was nothing wrong with it.

And now this episode with my old 6950 , even though i have settings on eBay which is supposed to filter out all the timewasters.

It implies that the buyer is buying it as per the listing. Frankly I'd never buy anything "sold as seen" because to me that's a euphemism for "broken".

Tbh I think paypal is run by robots as they always side with the buyer.

If anyone wants to return something I'm always polite and accept, no point in fighting the inevitable and risk annoying them, finding its been sent back with damage resulting from said anger.

One way I find to avoid douches is put a high buy it now with best offer, then as you get offers you decide who gets it.

One time someone with really bad feedback slipped through the net, so I didn't send the item, obviously they got a full refund and I just said must have been lost in the post.

I also once sold a 6950 and I got the dreaded email.. Blah blah blah its faulty, i went through installation etc drivers, and it was all OK, I only persisted cause they had bought other items of high value. They wrote a really nice feedback

Oh, and also look at the actual seller comments, cause as you know, sellers can't leave negatives, which is terrible

I also usually offer a better price if someone pays without going through eBay, some people go for it

sold as seen on every advert i do. No comebacks.

Theres too many idiots on Ebay and if they are not happy with item 100% they will try anything to send it back.

Only ever had one problem with eBay and to be fair, it was probably my fault just as much as his. I bought a faulty card for cheap to see if I could fix it but didn't get round to it so I ended up reselling it. Explained what was wrong with it as accurately as possible but it turned out I didn't notice that the previous owner had already tried to fix it so they opened a dispute saying that I never described that part. I just argued that faulty is faulty (Bit dickish on my part I know :p) and it ended up with eBay refunding him themselves so it turned out okay in the end.

Then unless the listing states it's not working or not tested then presumably the buyer can take it that it is in fully working order.

The only time I pulled a fast one on ebay was when I had the original iPod Nano (circa 2005) and bought some silicone floppy case things for it.

I specifically chose them from a UK seller as I wanted them quickly.
Two weeks passed and no item, so I filed for a refund and got it.
A day later they came through the post covered in Hong Kong stamps.

Contact Saphire, see if they say the same. (I bet he hasn't spoken to them at all) It could be so many other things, his PSU might be rubbish - his CPU could be overheating.
