I am a huge techno-head and love proper avant-garde electronics. Some of my records are just 40 minutes of pure sine-wave bliss. Getting a warm and dynamic sound is very important to me because of that. I'm sure piracy has come a long way (and I still download lots of music from more specialised, small-scale trackers than what/waffles) but the digital listening experience still feels incredibly stale and sterile to me. And you're right, there are so many factors and so many points in the chain that can interfere with sound quality in digital formats. Nothing quite like a quality Shure/Ortofon needle put to a record and played thru as simple a loop as possible :)

Exactly why I like a bit of extra warmth in the system :)

True - I love my vinyl too, just can't be fussed with the hassle sometimes - especially when working, I just wouldn't have the time to change frequently enough :(

Muse - Knights of Cydonia has to be one of the best vinyl I own - that just doesn't sound the same in any other form.

Some of the older Deadmau5 has a special sound on vinyl too - especially "I Remember"

Then there's the Lange remix of Above & Beyonds "I Am What I Am" - very hard to get hold of in vinyl form, but it's one of my favourites and I still have friends in the right places from the DJ society at uni :)

And the classic Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes

Nothing fun going on i'm afraid.

Except for the webcam pointing suspiciously towards what would be your crotchal region.

lol... chatroulette time!

I'm a little concerned that his body odour is so bad, he feels the need to keep his deodorant next to the monitor in order to avoid smelling bad over the internetz - things not going too well on match.com, I take it? :)

All that money on specialist audio hardware and you still have a music taste prescribed by the 14 year old music television scene? :P

Nice - I've struggled to lose the harshness with solid state.

I've found it's usually more of an issue when you like that extra bit of clarity... so my preference towards Kef probably doesn't help.

I've been through Cambridge Audio / Naim / Arcam / Denon / Onkyo and more I can't remember the names of right now... funnily, I was considering a NAD when I purchased this :)

I too am an audio "pleb", despite enjoying it quite a bit. I know what sounds good to me & chase that sound. This one was a bit of a chance purchase - although the reviews have been rather positive.

Probably my favourite amp was a Rotel RA02 I had but I had to get rid of it as it developed a balance problem with the fader and ever since I've been on a mission to find something that sounds as good but is within a certain budget and only the NAD has managed it so far! I think the Arcam amps would have done it but the premium price they are at even in the used market doesn't justify it I think. Not for my listening anyway :p

The one thing I absolutely love about the V4 and NAD combination is that no matter how high you take the volume (without going too high and damaging the speakers!), there's no distortion, no harshness and no boomyness in the bass. I don't think I will ever change these speakers or at the very least, not own them any more! And for once I think I agree with a What HiFi review of them, that they're among the best floorstanders in the up to £700 category!

haha

I'd be inclined to agree with you if I was talking about Deadmau5 new stuff - his style changed drastically and I really don't like his new stuff :(

I like trance with substance - something with a tune behind it... not the **** on the radio that seems to be nothing but a meaningless beat or ****-rap lately :(

Take a peek at the email I just dropped you in trust... there's a link to this amp, I think you'll be surprised by the price!

Take a look at some reviews etc, these guys seem to get nothing but glowing reviews & I can see why! For the money & to my ears - it outclasses a £3k Arcam solid state amp for music

Haven't sampled those tannoys myself - for me, it was originally between the B&W 684/683, the Misson MX5s and the Monitor Audio BX6s... I went to a fantastic shop all the way up in Coventry & ended up falling in love with the Kef Q900s.

More money than I was originally planning on spending to match with this cheap amplifier... but I'll be happy :D

I'm tempted to try one of this brands more expensive valve amps... alternately you can upgrade the valves apparently to get an even better sound!

Nice! Think I can just about see 4x filter channels so I'm guessing a Traktor S4? I've only got the S2 :(

Yeah, that's my uni room desk, and I use the S4 during term-times. It's a nice piece of kit - I want to say toy, because it seems like that, but it's actually really pretty powerful! Definitely the best controller I've seen in an otherwise pretty shocking market. The S2 is really nice as well but doesn't have any inputs for turntables/DVS, which is a big no-no for me (I'm vinyl-only when I have the space).

Back at home I've got the other 1210M3D and a Pioneer DJM-700. Trust me, all controller DJ's eventually end up selling their stuff and then buying/selling new stuff gradually time and time again until they reach a similar sort of set-up (e.g. Pioneer/Xone mixer, proper CDJ's/TT's). Just skip yourself the hassle mate ;)

I've only just got the S2! The S2 was quite affordable though and I'm only just getting into the controller way of life.
