I bought a new i7 macbook today, its the previous model.

I currently have a late 2008 MBP with 1 ssd and 1TB hdd.

Is it possible for me just to take the SSD hard drive and put it in my new macbook?

Sure no problems with that :) If you need any help, iFixIt.com has some decent guides :)

Obviously, if the OS is installed on the other hard drive, you'll need to do a fresh install on your SSD. If the OS is installed on the SSD, then it's just a straight swap :)

He's asking if he needs to do a re-install or not, not if it will function...

A windows machine would not be happy if you tried to run it with an install set up with drivers for a different machine.

A Windows XP install can't handle being put into a completely different computer. Windows Vista and 7 can though.
