What you guys opinions about these cars? Being reasonably priced now I can't help ignoring them! Being my favourite 'attainable' car of all time.

Just wondering what the motors crew thought of said vehicle, be it na aerotop
, non turbo or tt6 uk version!

A good one is great. It was worrying Porsches back in the day and has what but be one of the most over engineered engines ever. Seldom go wrong, cheap and easy to maintain if you don't mind getting your hands dirty every few thousand miles and when it comes to modifying your wallet will probably break before the engine does :).

Heavy car + Nearly 20 year old = Shagged suspension and that bill is well over a grand to sort in bushes alone.

The interior is very '90s Japanese car', I.E a massive slab of black plastic.

N/As don't really seem worth bothering with in any form.

Cool cars, but I don't think I'll ever have one when an Aristo is cheaper, newer, more practical and has the best bit, but that's just me :).

I hope I'm not the only one who had to Google what an 'Aristo' was, showing my youth there!

Bit different from the Polo GTi or Scirroco you were originally looking at?

Yeah I know, not looking to buy just really look at what people generally think of these car and what their experiences are.

I test drove a non turbo manual a few weeks back and it was rather nice although not the best example I had seen.

Can't see much point in them unless your a massive fan or go for the TT as they are actually very quick. Other than that they seem to be 'typical 90's Jap coupe'.

You're not showing your youth, just showing you're lack of knowledge of obscure Japanese imports ;)

I'm going to guess 99% of people won't know what one is. I'll save you all the hassle and tell you that it's a Lexus GS300 with the twin turbo 'Supra engine' (It was used in the aristo first) up front. The Supra, Soarer and Aristo share a lot of components/design with each other underneth the skin :).

The Aristo is quite a thing, Quite like them. Seem a few of them at the jap meets I used to go to.

Supra TT manual's go for about £8-9k don't they?

I've had a massive argument with a mate about this. He thinks the Supra was just another jap 90s coupe, I think it was a lot more than that.

Over in the states it was a car that received rave reviews. Read the press from then and you get a feeling that they thought of it as a 90s GTR, it was beating Corvettes, Vipers, it's Japanese brothers and having a crack at 911s, despite being far, far cheaper. Hell, I've read a review testing one next to a DB7 Aston, and what's worse is the Supra was better than the Aston more times than it was worse... Just something to think about - A Supra had the shortest 70-0MPH stopping distance of a production car tested by an American mag for several years and was only topped by a Carrera GT. Is that not a little bit awesome?

Over here it doesn't seem to be thought of anything particularly special which is a bit of a shame.

I don't strictly speaking like them. The looks and interior are always going to stand in the way for me, but they are a massively capable car.

Just proves the point that there's more to a car than just numbers.

I agree with you entirely about the interior and looks....some of them do look great externally, however, just not to my specific taste! :)

I believe they just weren't British enough and far to flashy and carried no prestige for the time, also it came about when Cosworth was king. Not forgetting Japanese cars carried a stigma of being the old man's choice.
Personally i think they look great but there's no escaping that interior! just what were the Japs thinking!?

I picked my Supra up from having an A service, new brakes and a turbo repair yesterday, very pleased with the results, its on 170,000 now and still going strong. I really love this car, mines a manual so i cant say much about the autos, but i really do enjoy driving it

I was actually looking at getting a new car but ive decided im going to stick with the Supra now, i was looking to move to BMW but instead of all the hassle and the money i would need to put extra in to buy a BMW that i like, im just going to spend a small amount and get the bodywork fixed, maybe a respray and the wheels reconditioned and it will be pretty much as good as new.
