Hey guys. So, finished a horrible night shift this morning. Got into the car to get out of a really tight car park and this happened to my 9 day old tts

after running over one of those individual parking baby padlock Bollard thingies:(

So, drove straight to the Audi approved body workshop for a rough estimate and was given a quote around the £500 ballpark.
Now this to me seems quite steep. I was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on whether to go with an independant bodyshop because I would assume it would be significantly cheaper.
Will it affect future resale value if I do?
Is the job likely to be as good?

P.s. the streaks are a result of a quick wipe on a dirty car in the rain. Not related to the mishap

Get more quotes but I can't imagine it being massively cheaper because of the dent and bend . Only one way to find out!

As for resale well if it's repaired properly no one will even notice its been ding'd , and of you tell them I imagine they will only care that the damage can't be seen

I'd just let Audi do it. You've spent enough on the car, I don't think an extra £500 for some peace of mind is much money at all. If it is every questioned at re-sale time, you'll have a receipt from the Audi main dealer to prove the work has been done to their standard.

After having first hand experience of "dealer" bodyshops That would be the last place I would go.
Hunt for a bodyshop with a quality reputation via recommendation NOT just one with "AUDI Approved" above the door.
It's nine days old FFS, do it right.
Oh and £500 squid is cheap

£500 seems pretty cheap.

I've only ever had one experience with an "approved" bodyshop and that's with VW. The receipt I got given didn't mention anything about the bodyshop being an approved VW bodyshop - it was just like a receipt from any other independent bodyshop.

It's only called an "approved bodyshop" for your peace of mind and knowing that they won't do a shabby job, but doesn't necessarily mean the work they do is better than other independent bodyshops out there. As long as you find a reputable and reliable bodyshop (google, word of mouth, reviews?) then it doesn't really matter if it's Audi approved or not.

The local bodyshop I go to doesn't have manufacturer approval but they use genuine manufacturer parts, do a good job and much cheaper than the manufacturer approved bodyshops so I'm happy with that :)

Do you ever have anything useful to say? Do you really think it's as simple as that?

Yes it is.

He has scuffed his car, he pays someone to make it look like it once was no one is anything wiser.

Paying over inflated audi recommended bodyshop prices wont make the repair any better.

No, he doesn't.

quiet you or i will park a van on the street you live on. LOL.

You're suggesting the OP should find the cheapest place to do it because it's a straightforward job. It isn't. Why would you cheap out for the sake of a hundred quid or so when the finish could look like **** in 12 months time because of a rushed and shoddy job? At least going with Audi gives you some recourse if something goes wrong, if you get a cheap cash job done you'll probably be told to do one if you're not happy. Anyway £500 is a reasonable quote.

its a little dent in the door and a bit of paint missing from a sill protector, its about as straight forward as it gets. A cheap indy will be able to sort that in a day for less than £200, you could go to audi and pay 5-6 for the exact same job just because its done by a dealer approved repair shop. It wont look like **** in 12 months just because someone who was not audi approved did it. They wont do anything different apart from charge more because they can because people don't have a clue.

Less than £200, hahaha tell me another one of your funny jokes.

Troll is troll. I'm sure you'll get banned one of these days. From what I've seen of responses to many of your posts, you're not very popular. You've been here 5 minutes, talk absolute ******** and probably haven't even spent a penny at OcUK.
