Hi guys, after being reminded of these classic games in a separate thread.

I thought I'd get a general idea of how many people out there long for games like these instead of the now standard COD/Battlefield type shooters which are great in there own way but lack the depth that these older tactical shooters had in spades.
By the way Hidden & Dangerous 2 can be downloaded for free now, it is dated but still worth a look if you never had a chance to play it first time round.

I loved the Hidden and Dangerous series! In fact, I started playing number 2 again recently. Amazing game. A sequel is long overdue

I loved these games, the only problem I had was that I wasnt too good at it and fairly young to use my brain. Where can I get the free download of the second one.

This is long over due, there was a similar game to this but for the life of me I cannot remember. It was a squad based game and it involved using a lot of coveer, flanking and supression. It may of been on a console though the first Xbox I think it was. Not 100% sure.

Brothers in Arms? Might give Hidden & Dangerous a go again too, I was pretty young and just remember finding it impossible to get over a bridge, first level probably.

Ground Branch does look very good I have pledged my support ($30 dollars for 2 copies of the game) but I'm doubting if it will get its funding time is ticking :(
@ ClartyMarty I can't link to the download for H&D2 as I'm at work maybe someone else could do it, if not I'll do it from home though a google search should see you right.

No it wasnt brother in arms, It was more of a third person view which was set in the modern world. Very hard.

More of a move the cursor (via controller) each encounter would have a small group of bad guys but you used ally ways and cars for cover.

I am sure the Hud was a light blue.

Absolutely would love an update/sequel.. I loved H&D2 and found it quite a challenge, in fact I never did finish it, as I got stuck near the end and other games took over. The variety of missions and locations made it quite compulsive.. the only major issue was some levels cried out for stealth, but the AI had supernatural skills, and would spot you in the deepest cover.

I'm longing for a decent WW2 game again, as almost everything recently has been modern or future based, so it would be nice to have something with a historical base for current generation PC's.

Nothing like playing a level of Hidden and Dangerous (back in the first build before you could save) only to have your entire squad fall through the map at the end. Good times.

Seriously though, amazing game. Needs a sequel.

H&D was epic.. loved the realism of laying in a ditch with the sound of rain and limited visibility waiting for a nazi to pop its head out.

might have to download them :D

LOL oh man, that first level. Destroy the building, escape with a full squad.... brb, commandos can't use a ladder, fall to your death!

I loved the original, but I used to find commanding the squad infuriating at times. I seem to remember one level involving ambushing a train, where there was a German sniper on top of a hill somewhere that used to kill my guys whilst he was still outside the draw range of the game! I ended up taking a massive de-tour just to stay in cover until I could get close enough to take him out!

I never really got into the sequal as much, dont know why. Might have to go back and try it again sometime.

If they did make a new one, I imagine it would need a co-op mode to appeal to todays gamers. I guess that could still work as long as it kept the realistic damage, difference in skills, tactical planning and limited inventory for the whole campaign that made it different at the time.

<3 H and D

Amazing games , played both games through several times

The realtime / FPS elements were fused together brilliantly

or those levels where you had to kill every enemy and the single remaining bugger would be hiding nice and quietly until sniping you in the head from point blank :D

There was nothing like setting up a perfect ambush in the tactical map with all your soldiers opening fire on different enemies at the same time. You could plan it down to the last detail, then hit the action button and watch all your men's little face icons turn into skulls as it completely and utterly failed.

Hidden & Dangerous...the very first game i played with my new Orchard Righteous 12mb Voodoo 2 SLI cards..:)

£300 (what would that be in today's money??) for 1024x768 FTW..:D
