I think he was commenting on the fact that people like to use these threads as an opportunity to mention that they frequently fly in first class.

Nail on yed

Not aimed at anyone in particular, just how these threads tend to become a bit of a willy contest and as everyone should know by now, my willy is moohasive!*

I think you'll find that my willy is bigger, my lie flat bed is flatter, my **** airline champagne is bubblier and I have many precious metals and gemstones after my name.

At least you're not one of those economy ruffians, though.

Personally if i was booking i would want a airline that has got good times for flight's.

both airlines go to the same place and both take the same time (roughly).

Being on a air-plane for that long is boring no matter who you book it with.

If it's better times then go with british airways.

Flying to NYC Newark in 1 month on Virgin Atlantic 747-400 both ways, Economy class... Maybe I am too poor to be in these threads.

I'm afraid you are. I tend to poke my head through the cabin curtains and smile at the people in the lower class.x

No! I've flown about 25 times in the last 18 months all economy transatlantic. We rock!

I haven't flown with BA yet so can't offer anything regarding their flights but Virgin was perfectly pleasant in terms of service when I flew with them earlier in the year although the legroom left a bit to be desired - that's a fairly general complaint though, there's seldom enough legroom to be entirely comfortable on aeroplanes or perhaps I should say I can't afford the seats which have more space. For the little it matters by looking at the seating plan I think I must have been Premium Economy on the way out and Economy on the way back - I can't say I realised there was a difference when picking my seat nor noticed any difference in comfort on the actual flight itself.

Generally speaking I pick on the convenience of the flight times and fewest number of stops vs the cost so unless it's sigificantly more expensive I'd aim for a flight with no stops that gets me in at a reasonable hour.

I did 2 transatlantic crossings earlier this month with BA, it was slightly less than I was expecting. Around Europe they are fabulous in economy but over the pond, not as much. Air Canada had far better entertainment.

Which airline do you fly? Do you stick with any particular frequent flyer programme?

Usually Delta/KLM out of MAN but occasionally something else if its cheaper. Not really flying enough to make FF programs count though really.

KLM, psht.... They're the only people to have ever lost my luggage...

I've had nice experiences with both BA and Virgin (SA rather than NA though)...

Haven't had bad experiences with either actually...

BA failed me so utterly and completely, and Virgin picked up the pieces in seconds with no issues. Will never fly BA again. I fly a lot (4 - 5 times a year long haul), never had a complaint about Virgin (aside some moody Cabin Crew one time).

Virgin has a better all-round quality. Their premium economy is equivalent to BA's business class (if not better).

You get lay flats in Virgin Premium economy? I doubt that! Let alone the food and delrink you get with business. Their premium economy may be equivalent to club europe (which is just a bit of extra room and slightly better food) but certainly not club world.

I'd go with BA but have only ever been Virgin once so... On the other hand may as well go with the best time if everything else is equal.

Been on a standard Virgin Atlantic flight three times, fantastic each and every one. Been on BA several times including a free Business Class upgrade and even that wasn't a patch on Virgin.

I would place Virgin ahead on every department; comfort, cleanliness, staff, food and in flight entertainment.

The last time I went to the states I flew American Airlines although this was a number of years ago I would they are miles ahead of of BA and Virgin in terms of service and the staff are a lot friendlier.

I don't what it probably culture but Americans are generally second to known when it comes to service and know who treat people. You get onto to a BA or Virgin flight and some of the staff have a look on their faces that make you feel that your an inconvenience. This could have all changed now but that's my experience.
