***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

What is stock for your memory?

Mine is Samsung Green, so 1600 11-11-11-28-2t

You got same memory?

Last time I looked in IBT (which is not a benchmark) I was getting around 112/113 with 4.9GHz.

Think the memory was at 2000 at that time.

Earlier in the thread you claimed 110 in IBT, now you say 112/113 so which is it?

I've got el cheapo corsair 1600 RAM

I am not likely running the same clocks as then, be it memory or cpu, etc.

I have not been using IBT much lately, and have not been paying attention to how many gflops it was giving, but rather whether it passed.

Not sure what you are getting at here? Is it that you think I am full of £$%&, or is it that you want to say yours is better than mine?

To make you happy, I will do a run of IBT very high tonight, and let you know what gflops I get.

In the mean time, how about you download and run cinebench, and let me know what score you get?

GFlops will depend on a number of factors, clock speed, amount of memory used, threads and the CPU load.

One thing is certain, there should not be much variety in the GFlops if the overclock is stable and there are no other background tasks.

Those claiming higher numbers should make sure they use Very High preset in IBT and the same version of Linpack to be sure.

Lulz, no one cares who has the fastest cpu. I run mine at 0.7x volts at 3.9Ghz. I have one silent fan and it doesn't get hot! You are the one who constantly posts in this thread to no ones interest........

I don't need to improve my e-peen if that is what you are getting at mate, though it certainly appears that you are desperate to do so!

Hmmmm, at the risk of still sounding sensitive, take a look at the thread title.

In my opinion this thread is for those who overclock their CPU's and share their experience. Which is what I am doing.

If I didn't have a chip that clocked well, I'd be posting a lot trying to get suggestions on what I could do to improve it.

If people weren't going to post their experiences, this would be a very dull thread indeed.

I simply don't like it when people question my integrity/honesty, which it sounded to me like you were doing.

I couldn't care less who has the fastest, but it was coming across that you did. Hence my response.

Ok I have some NEWS for all those that are considering flipping the lid on their i5's/i7s :D I asked in intel live chat what would happen if I sliced the die under the Intel Insurance and this was the response: (posting full conversation)

Joy: Hi there! Thank you for using the Intel Customer Support chat service. We are glad to be of service. How can I help you today?
: I was wondering about the Intel Insurance for the K series of processors. I understand that it covers "if something goes wrong" whilst overclocking. But I would like to know if it also covers the removal of the Intergrated Heatsink part of the processor at all?
Joy: I see. It will cover one time deal for a processor replacement regardless its fault.
: So say I removed the Intergrated Heatsink and sliced the processor Die by accident so long as I returned the chip with the IHS still readable I would be able to claim it on my insurance?
Joy: As mentioned, regardless of its fault and as long as you have the insurance then you can ask for a replacement.
: Ok thanks for the help :)

So. If you get covered by the insurance you could run your CPU over with a car and Intel don't give a **** :D

Nice, should be seeing more ppl slice open their IB's :D

Interesting info Ollie.

And just after decided wouldn't remove IHS because of warranty void...

Might have a chat with them too, and see if I get the same response from someone else.

Maybe a few other people could too?

Might be a while before I do it though, as am actually back to running everything at stock :)

My chat with Intel

: hi
Jenny: Hello. Thank you for using the Intel Customer Support chat service. We are glad to be of service. How can I help you today?
: question about performance tuning protection - can you help on that??
Jenny: Sure. How may I help you?
: If I removed the integrated heat spreader from 3770K to improve cooling, and cpu died at some/any point, would I still be covered for a replacement under the plan?
Jenny: Okay. Please wait for 4-5 minutes while I'm checking on this information.
Jenny: Kindly stay online.
: thank you
Jenny: Thank you for waiting, Chris.
Jenny: I just need to clarify about the integrated heat spreader.
Jenny: Is it correct that it is the integrated heat spreader that you would like to remove to improve cooling?
Jenny: Regarding your inquiry, I would also like to inform you that with Intel Performance Tuning Protection Plan, it will grant you the ability to have a one-time no-questions-asked warranty exchange for certain high-end Intel® boxed processors.
: yes
: So no matter what has been done to the CPU, it will be replaced?
Jenny: Yes, we will still provide replacement for the processor.

I wondered why our house lights went a bit brighter last night at around 8:00pm, is that when you decided to return back to stock and thus put that extra power back into the national grid...?

Just as a note - why have you given up or are you just having a break for a while..?

Just as a note - why have you given up or are you just having a break for a while..?

Need a break, and not really doing anything just now that requires the extra oomph.

Plus, all this PC meddling is a way to keep myself distracted from stress in my life - Until this morning I thought the stress had abaited, but alas, no, so might carry on regardless...
