So, turns out, if I'm a 23yo looking to insure my '04 XJR with 3 yrs NCB it'll set me back around £770.
If I were a 24yo with 4yrs NCB, however, it would be £784.

What?!

What company / comparison site? There are loads of glitches in insurance systems. I ticked every add on box and reduced my excess to £100 recently when I renewed with my insurer and it didn't change my quote.

When I last renewed I got my NCB bonus wrong, can't remember if I said I had 3 when I have 4 or said I have 2 when I have 3. Corrected this when I phoned up to take the policy and it made....zero difference.

Smelling a rat I went back on with the same details but slightly different name etc and the site itself confirmed that extra year caused absolutely no cost variation. Might have expected that to be the case at say 6 or 7 years but not with relatively low ncb, then again I don't have any accidents/claims/points etc in the stated period so I guess that makes the bulk of the number up....Shysters

The procedure every year for car insurance is the same:

1) Get premium from current insurer ( Usually goes up even though no accidents // increased no claims )

2) Quick check on the comparison websites to find the same insurers offering it about last years premiums price.

3) About 5 hours of trial and error, ticking boxes and random changes to find the "right" price. Last time I changed my job title from Network Administrator to Computer Engineer and it dropped by abour £300, load of ********.

4) Then ring my insurance and get them to beat the price, if not then just go with the insurer who offers me cheapest.

Been with Admiral last few years though, but if you ever have an accident then expect an enjoyment of 100s of calls through the year asking you to claim for this that and the other.

Or you could do what i do. Receive renewal from Direct Line (less than last years, as it has been every year since I got my GTI-6), go onto confuzzled.com and gocompare, get quotes. See quotes are more expensive than what I'm paying now. Accept DL renewal. Easy! Hopefully it will continue like this too!

This has been pretty much the way for me as well. Even online quotes as a new customer with admiral come out more than my renewal :)

I'm 23 3yr exp and out of curiosity I put 24 4yr exp and it went up everywhere.

Guess more 24 years olds crash than 23 year olds.

OK, why won't Swiftcover let me add any named drivers to my theoretical policy?

Keeps coming up with "Sorry, we cannot insure this driver on your car" next to the relationship to policyholder section
