Hey all,

I was researching and comparing Audi A4 vs BMW 3 series, but the winner for me is now Audi.

I've seen some cars and identified what I need in particular:

2.0 FSI (not so sure if this or Diesel yet)
Quattro
Heated Seats
Cruise Control
Arm Rest

but also I want something I can plug my iphone in and take calls while I am on the phone - you know so I can hear the person through my speakers and use a MIC that is on the car -

how much would something like this cost to get fitted in?

I see many people on here with Audi seems a v popular choice :)

Are you wanting to play music and answer calls or just answer calls?

A simple Parrot device will do, and can be neatly wired in by yourself (if competent) or a specialist

Hi mate, good choice :) FSI is petrol.

I am looking at a kit myself and have been recommended this http://www.roadradio.com/Bury/Music/?gclid=CLyr8fvl_bACFUxlfAod2TbIPw

Only thing is it has a screen, I like the idea of this but want it in a place it won't look too obtrusive.

I had one of these kits and they are brilliant. They allow 2 concurrent phones to be connected and controled by Voice commands!

I had mine mounted on the adapter bracket (as this was already fitted to the car when i got it).

I will do occasional long journeys (once in a 1-2 months) 500-600 round trip

rest of the time it will be close by small journeys

The 2.0 FSI will still manage ~40mpg on a run. Therefore your infrequent long journeys shouldn't warrant a diesel.

ok thanks

Ironically might be the NE of England I will be visiting lol we will see

these cars look solid I drove one last week very impressive
cruise control is something I need

is quattro worth it guys?

I want either

2.0 Fsi
or

2.0 TDI

price range 7-10k

I wasn't fussed on whether or not mine had quattro. However since its been mapped it does pull in the wet which wouldn't be so fierce (AFAIK) if it had 4WD. I wouldn't be too hung up about it though.

I take it we are talking B7 here?

Cruise can be added fairly easily and cheaply I believe.

really? cruise is cheap?

I also want arm rest - the car I went to see it didn't have it and felt strange driving it without one.

yes we talking b7

so not the latest model the one just before

A lot of A4's that I saw when I was buying my B6 didn't have the arm rest either. Seems like it was a fairly expensive option. But I considered it a must have.

Go for a 2.0 petrol without Quattro. Don't go for Quattro unless you really feel you need it, which by your posts you don't. The FWD version will be more economical and have lower tyre costs than the Quattro variant.

Looking into the cruise options at the moment, people sell the kits on ebay for around £80. Then just needs coding in. I have asked a local Audi dealer how much they would charge and will let you know.

Fox you are probably right here

in which circumstances is quattro actually needed?

I think you can add one for £90 I seen them on websites

but dont know how good they are I expect one that is in place already would be better

Owning a VCDS (VAG-COM) cable is a must if you are a VAG car owner. Then you can code 99% of things yourself (bar a few components that have component protection on more modern cars).

Grab a cable, go nuts :)
