Afghan Woman's Public Execution Slammed

And we and the US have just given this country training and arms so the can "defend" themselves from the Taliban

we have just armed the devil again, like the CIA did in the 80s to fight the USSR

aye,a major problem is the Afghan rogue police who turn against the men who trained them, wtf can you do.

Get out now and nuke it from Orbit

And nuke them ones living in this country, living and plotting to harm British people on British soil

dunno why folk are giving aid4nthenoob the time of day. clearly a troll account, certainly going by hotlinking a 75,000dollar watch as his own in the watch thread

So you're saying I can't own a 75,000 dollar watch?

Do you know about my financial income? No.

Did you ever consider that it may have been left to me in a will? No.

I think Hovis, wristwatch, this ocuk post in the background and if you can do that some people have apologies to mak, if you can't then I suggest you just admit you blagged it and move on.......

I predict he's going to come back and say that it doesn't matter if he has the watch or not (he doesn't) what matters is that we don't believe him when we don't have proof. He's just trying to expose how nasty we are.

I suspect if I take my painkillers I'd come out with Russell's Teapot as a response to it.

Why can't people grasp the difference between religion and culture?

not sure it is purely cultural - also note the comment from the Afghan guy earlier in this thread

I agree, I'm an Afghan, if the 'Taliban' continues with this behaviour and stupidness which has nothing to do with the culture, Afghanistan will never become peaceful, and I will never be able to visit my origin country.

Tis probably a bit of both but the Taliban are following very extreme interpretations of Islam, the religion (not in the broad sense) is to blame. I don't mean Islam in general is to blame but the extreme form they follow.

Reality is the Taliban have only been there for a few decades, certainly isn't a cultural thing, they've had girls attending schools etc.. before and in the very recent past in different areas... problems happen when the Taliban gain influence in an area again and start enforcing their extreme views.

(not that it was a liberal Islamic country in the first place, tis pretty bad in general but the Taliban's influence is certainly much more negative)

:D

Hovis + 75k watch would be quite amusing, am actually hoping the guy does have it (though very doubtful)

Why can't people grasp the difference between religion and culture?

The two are often interlinked, The culture gives rise to the religion and then the religion is used as a reason of enforcing that culture upon the masses, regardless of if they like the culture or want to change it.

He doesn't have a 75k watch for god's sake.

People who type stuff like that don't have nice things.

The argument about culture and religion is a little pointless.....The Taliban have taken ancient local tribal customs and reinstituted them using a fundamentally extremist interpretation of Hadith to justify and intensify those customs to suit their own agenda....in this case she was the wife of one Taliban commander who allegedly committed adultery with another.

This is not representative of either Islam or Afghani Culture in the broader sense, it is an extreme act justified by an extreme interpretation of local Pashtun tribal tradition regarding the status of women reinforced by a fundamentalist view of the Hadith.
