Hey guys.

I just treated myself to a new game for my new build!
Metro 2033 is a fantastic game (so-far) but i have a slight issue. I have the video settings on "very high" at 1920x1080, the game runs at around 65-75 fps, but when i get to where there is loads of smoke effects the fps reduce to around 25-30. i would have thought that my new computer would be able to handle the game with ease?
I turned off "advanced dof and physx" which helped slightly.
Does any1 else have this issue? and is there anyway to fix it?

Thanks guys.
Dave.

Easily one of the most demanding games to date, shows it as well. Maybe just run it on high? or try turning of tessellation.

Keep DOF off it destroys fps in Metro 2033 and also do not enable 4XMSAA it does the same.

Mist effects however will slow down fps in it i am not sure why exactly but they are similar to shadows in games stressing your card a lot.

With the above two off you should have around 40fps or so at least amongst the mist i should imagine, what card you using?

PhysX can drop fps in all it's supported titles by a fair bit at times but produces nice effects.

Make sure you disable AA, I've found that in some games smoke can give massive slow down with AA enabled.

Also if you want to be running Very High settings at 1080p you could do with an upgrade, Metro2033 is pretty demanding. Of course my recommendation would be to just get rid of SSAO, AA, Motion Blur and turn shadows down a bit, should do the trick.

Ahhh that sucks lol.. I am guessing that i would get an fps increase if i did crossfire 2x7850? Or would i just be waistin my money?
Cheers mate.

I did a couple of lvls on metro and my average fps was 78. Highest was 132, lowest 30 (when the ghost train went past) which i am quite happy, max mem usage was 1.1gb. For some reason the game is running much better today, Maybe because i restarted the comp?
Would i get any benifits from adding another 7850?

I have an Nvidia GTX570, so around the same range as yours. Metro in 2560 x 1440 cripples it.

Id say but a new card or another 7850 if you want to play in 2560 x 1440
