How do you rate this forums growth/evolution since you joined?

I've been here for seven years now and the one hting that strikes me about the place is how much more relaxed and less confrontational the moderating team are now. This place was once the centre of many an e-drama when the owner was more "hands-on" with posting, and the atmosphere was pretty crappy at one point, especially when all the mass bannings started. I think it's pretty amazing that someone can pee off such a large amounts of users to the point where they wage hate campaigns against them, just over an internet site and some bad judgement. Either way I think lessons were then learnt on all sides, the place is now much more relaxed, and mods much more moderate (pun mildly intentional) and pleasant.

Also there has been a big drop in aggressive posters and flame-happy fanboys... I remember some classic arsey posters in the GPU sections that are now thankfully no longer present.

All in all I think this is now the best internet forum on the planet, and I mean that sincerely. Nowhere else will you find such a collection of varied, and for the most part intelligent and opinionated, users who really make this place great to post in. Whatever your flavour there is a thread and an answer for it, and i can't see me ever getting truly bored of the place. :)

It's very good place to be. The forums away from GD are interesting and informative. GD is a strange place but it's mix of dross and random subjects make it rather special. There is really very little to complain about as you get what you put in. Overall the place is the best forum around!

All seems pretty much the same, but I notice many more retarded topics/posts and there seems to have been a vast rise in "trolls". Could just be that I'm 25 now and was 13 when I joined...

I have used it far more in the latter half of my time here, and it's pretty much the only forum I regularly visit now. Plenty of variety in topics and opinions, and plenty of lols.

Pretty good :)

Goes through phases... Sometimes there are lots of threads that interest me, sometimes there are none for a week or two.

More silly kids and spam ourdays.

The whole overclocking scene isn't what it used to be, every man and his dog can overclock now, never used to be like that, i miss those days.

Brilliant forum, simplistic, easy to use, easy to navigate. Absolutely no evolution, but it's not needed.

Don't fix something that isn't broken!

The fact that I'm still here almost daily and have been since before the October 2002 nuke shows my opinion of it.

Other forums have come and gone, but this is still my "go-to" forum.

It's ok. I think the moderation is a little hit and miss, some a lot better than others.

I think racism is tolerated far too much here.

The bikers forum is such a nice relief from the bitching and bickering here in GD.

I think it's become more right wing and there is a general lack of respect. People seem to forget they're talking to other people sometimes. Anonymity gives people elitist tendencies.

There are also people who enjoy playing devil's advocate and will not back down, even when they don't believe what they're arguing for.

This is mainly GD (and possibly motors). The hardware forums are generally pretty good and people tend to give helpful and much appreciated advice.

I'm pretty new but its one of the only forums I now visit on a daily basis.

Very helpful people in all sections of the forum, people with similar interests willing to help others out whether it be do with a graphics card, idea for a evening meal or what car to buy next!

GD is an odd place but I like it for the most part, some of the threads and replies have had me in tears of laughter at times.

Always been on and off these forums for years. One place you know you can get some good help. Glad to have been allowed back on here officially and always recommend this place to anyone who asks.

The whole overclocking scene isn't what it used to be, every man and his dog can overclock now, never used to be like that, i miss those days.

If anything I prefer the fact that any man and his dog can overclock now. It means more people are getting into it and it's prolonging the life of the industry. Plus, while I do look back on the 90's overclocking scene fondly with rose-tinted specs, it was often a frustrating and time-consuming experience. I wasted a lot of my free time and money on it, and wish I hadn't.

seems slower, the new guys seems slightly less interesting, and all the memes and other **** seems to have moved on past me.

My posts per day is falling :(

This tbh. I stopped posting for a while as the general vibe of the forum got worse. Since coming back the place seems slower with GD having more trolls and muppets on high horses.
Thankfully SA is pretty much consistent even if a few decent posters have gone :(

It's still better than reddit. I have been on other forums and I would say it's actually one of the least weird. The "M" word place is weirder and TSR is probably the strangest but most of them are trolls.

Even though I seldom use the huge pools of knowledge which the other sub-forums provide it's nice to know that they are there and they have guided me correctly over the years.

I think GD goes through phases. At the moment it's in a lull but it'll come good again and let's all remember that at least it isn't as ******* terrible as reddit even when it's at its worst :)
