A woman from Lincolnshire has applied for planning permission to put a 7m-high "Cross of Love" in her back garden.

Sister Mary Michael, who lives in North Hykeham, near Lincoln, has received both objection and support for her application.

Seems as if the residents are quite cross about this and rightfully so. Wouldn't be surprised to see an angry mob of pensioners attaching her to it.

If someone was doing soething similar to this without a connection to a major religion they would get sectioned.

Really? Someone would get sectioned for wanting to erect their own ornament in their own garden?

Crikey. I'd best reconsider that water feature I wanted in my garden.

Why? It's her garden. Let her get on with it.

It will impact quite heavily on her neighbours however, it's a large structure and should undergo standard planning permission procedures. Quite why this is on BBC news, when it's a total none-story is beyond me.

She wants a big cross in her garden, some people nearby don't want it, it does, or doesn't get allowed by the local council planning department. The end.

Sweet so as a Satanist I can erect an illuminated 7m statue of our Dark Lord Satan in my garden?

Edit - I am not actually a Satanist.

If they wanted to erect a 24 foot 'ornament' that could have a detrimental effect on property prices (as well as annoying neighbours) because they think it will protect them from evil spirits unrelated to a major religion I think there would be some questions asked...

My point exactly, I think people would question my mental health if I put up a 24 foot tall light up light sabre in my back garden, rightfully so :p

ANYTHING seven metres high has pretty much no chance of being approved in a residential area, let alone something tht lights up at night.

If this monstrosity somehow manages to get approval then i'll eat my socks.

Definitely not, it's 24ft high the selfish bint. Absolutely no chance of getting planning permission for that.

Lol, so all the sculpture artists have been sectioned have they? Have you seen some off their "art"

As said, it won't be accepted anyway.
