***** Pictures of things we bought in July 2012 *****

Oh come on Ahleckz. Do I really need to make an argument for it? Lots of people spend lots of hours each day on keyboards, some perform better than the £5 keyboard does. Was it that difficult to understand?

We had a brief chat about 'normal' vs. mechanical keyboards in the TIAM thread, and I watched various Youtube videos about mechanical keyboards. Not one decent, coherent, argument was presented that made me think I need a mechanical one.
I don't need a multitude of media buttons, macros, or what ever else. Nor do I need fancy lights.
I need something that has the buttons I use, in the layout I like, and that is capable of doing its job.
The £4 keyboard I ordered satisfies all these requirements.

Yes, but some people do want those things.

Perhaps then instead of saying:
£3.98. No reason to spend any more on a keyboard.

you should have said "I have no reason to spend any more on a keyboard."

Its a Linksys PAP2 VOIP box.

Thought i would ditch the conventional phone-line and try VOIP, so far so good :)

Some stuff that I didn't really want to buy, but had to :( and some stuff I did want too!

new graphics card as my old one was glitching like mad, will investigate warranty and stuff this week though just in case it's still covered!

New PSU, as the old one wasn't the best, so figured if getting a newer GPU might I should sort this out properly:

Not designed as a dig, a genuine question:

What's the desire to own something like that on UK roads? It's not an off-roader & doesn't have a tow bar... seems like the vehicle has no purpose other than to be "big"?

You pay sales tax though? Kind of the same thing.

Depends on the state, only 50-60% of states have a sales tax.

Also, only 6 states apply a sales tax to online purchases.

So buying something like that direct from googles website, unless you're in one of those 6 states... will be tax-free.

easier to take dead bodies to be buried than a smaller runabout car :p

Yanks, don't have VAT.

If you did buy it from the USA, depending how you got it shipped or it got into Customs, they could add import or custom charges, but to be honest, but all this is easy avoided if you select the right shipping.

Which is the point being made.

So we automatically get at least VAT added on top of US prices.

There's normally an import tax & random bump on electronics.

So the point being made is... at £199, Google are doing a heck of a good job getting the prices so close to each other...
