Portal 2 is currently £7.49, I didn't really get on with Portal 1, am I kidding myself if I think I might prefer Portal 2? I just found the first one a bit boring.

You won't like Portal 2. It's pretty much the same thing but in my opinion, more boring.

I haven't completed the game yet but there are loads of Wheatley fanboys/girls and I don't honestly know why. I like Merchant but his character is an annoyance.

I'm another Portal heretic. I nearly made it through Portal1 after getting it free from Valve, but thought is was nice idea which didn't justify having a game wrapped around it. Glados is a great character though, so it's not all bad, and I can see why platformers and puzzlers enjoyed it.

After the hype, I cracked & bought P2 in last Xmas's sale for about a fiver... which is about the number of levels I completed before Youtubing the rest to enjoy the script and Stephen Merchant playing, er... Stephen Merchant.

So, based on what you've said, save your money. Not all games suit all people. :-)

I've currently got my eye on the MS Flight flash sale, but I think I may regret spending £12.

I have a lower spec than you and it runs fine for me.

Q6600 @ 3.2
AMD 6950
4GB RAM

I think it is related to crossfire - unfortunately disabling crossfire reduces performance in other areas of the game. Might try DX9 and one gpu core (the only thing I haven't tried). Lots of others having the problem with AMD hardware, ironic when you think it has the AMD logo

Thanks both, I'll give it a miss and save my cash for something else :)

It's weird, it's better in pretty much every single way than Portal 1 yet it just wasn't as fun for me. I still enjoyed it, but not as much as the first.

You've just linked him to the same item and price he mentioned! Great work!

Hold off on buying until the last day, it is extremely likely that it will be in a daily or flash deal. Pretty sure it was down to £4.99 in the last sale.

It was also cheaper than that on a flash and daily deal. Wait for it to come up in the daily/flash or get it the last day which is usually a recap if you do decide to get it. I found Portal 1 short but something different, Portal 2 is similar but there's a lot more pretty graphics, a story and some interesting puzzles.

I was looking through steam xmas sale 2011 and realised that there were 12 daily deal games. Now it is just 9 :(

Flash and voting deals as well though! Suspect there are more deals overall this time.

I didn't see that! I played the game for a while, but got bored. The problem is the price of all this DLC soon adds up and currently there is so much missing from the game. The potential is certainly there, but I can't imagine the cost to have a somewhat more complete game. I will admit that the deal is tempting though and I should imagine a lot of people will pick that up.

I'm DLing the Flight free starter now. In half an hour I might have an opinion. :-)
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/ (Actually the Steam version downloads almost as quickly, and will be more convenient if we buy the pack).

PS Based on Dirt 2, which was a nice but shallow distraction from serious sims, I doubt Dirt3 is worth £15. Maybe a tenner, but preferably less based on how long I played 2 for. But casual racers may enjoy it more.

Yeah judging by previous pricing on codemasters racing games I would expect to see DiRT3 considerably cheaper than that bearing in mind it isn't even the latest in the series. It wouldn't surprise me to see DiRT3 at £7.50 or less sometime this year maybe not from Steam.

DiRT mega pack @ £24.99 looks OK considering the fact it includes Showdown, worth getting for newcomers to the series.
