Felt like an absolute idiot yesterday. I bought some games in the Steam sale and I thought I could finally use the Xbox controller I’d bought for my PC a few months ago. So I went to plug in the controller and saw it didn’t have a USB connector, it looked similar to a PS2 connector. So I tried connecting it to a PS2 port at the back of the PC, but it definitely wasn’t the same connector. I thought I’d been a fool and thrown away some converter dongle which must have come with the controller (I took out the manual and driver CD, but couldn’t remember seeing a converter), so I had a Google round and found the right dongle and bought it.

It arrived yesterday and as I plugged the controller into the front of the PC with it I suddenly had a flashback of the controller vibrating on my PC when I was playing BF3 and I remembered I had actually played The Witcher 2 with it! I thought WTF, how did I delete those memories? So I thought I must have had the dongle and then unplugged the controller and forgot about it. So I looked at the back of the PC, and lo and behold, there was the dongle plugged into the PC already! So I could have been using the controller the entire time, and I wasted £3 on another dongle which I have no use for! I even looked at the back of the PC when I was trying to plug it in the PS2 port and I didn’t notice the dongle. No point in returning the second dongle since postage would be almost the cost of the dongle.

I was so disappointed in myself I just knew I had to tell GD. Massive facepalm, and cool first world problems story bro etc.

I went to purchase Trine 2 on the first day of this summers Steam Sale, only to be told I already owned it :p

Sort of shows I don't need to purchase any more games methinks...

"Say dongle again, I dare you! I double dare you! Say dongle one more goddamn time!"

Haha! Yeah I know, it's such an odd word, but I really wanted to be clear in my retelling of this epic saga. :D

I know objectively it's a completely mundane tale, but in my shoes I was thinking "Yay I can use this thing I bought months go", "Oh no I don't have the connector", and the final twist "I had it all along!".

Bought Pan's Labyrinth on DVD when i got home i already had it. To be fair it's difficult at times to keep track of my collection as it's gotten huge!

On Saturday, I bought a pint after coming back from the toilet. Only to find my original pint still on the table!

How can you rebuy an app you already have... isnt already registered as being bought on your account?

I meant as in I had forgotten I had the app, went to buy it, then realised I already had it as it had been registered as bought like you said.

My missus buying fast food when we are out despite only being 15 mins away from home where there is plentiful food. Grinds my gears.

What controller are you using? If it is an Xbox 360 one then it is USB and just plugs in if it is an original Xbox controller then do yourself a favour and get a 360 one.
