Felt like an absolute idiot yesterday. I bought some games in the Steam sale and I thought I could finally use the Xbox controller I’d bought for my PC a few months ago. So I went to plug in the controller and saw it didn’t have a USB connector, it looked similar to a PS2 connector. So I tried connecting it to a PS2 port at the back of the PC, but it definitely wasn’t the same connector. I thought I’d been a fool and thrown away some converter dongle which must have come with the controller (I took out the manual and driver CD, but couldn’t remember seeing a converter), so I had a Google round and found the right dongle and bought it.
It arrived yesterday and as I plugged the controller into the front of the PC with it I suddenly had a flashback of the controller vibrating on my PC when I was playing BF3 and I remembered I had actually played The Witcher 2 with it! I thought WTF, how did I delete those memories? So I thought I must have had the dongle and then unplugged the controller and forgot about it. So I looked at the back of the PC, and lo and behold, there was the dongle plugged into the PC already! So I could have been using the controller the entire time, and I wasted £3 on another dongle which I have no use for! I even looked at the back of the PC when I was trying to plug it in the PS2 port and I didn’t notice the dongle. No point in returning the second dongle since postage would be almost the cost of the dongle.
I was so disappointed in myself I just knew I had to tell GD. Massive facepalm, and cool first world problems story bro etc.
