Why only 2mbit upgrade its suppose to go from 10mbit to 20mbit.
Might be worth checking what the internal network speed is. Couple of things to check

1) is there a wireless connection and if so is it either poor quality signal or using the "b" protocol which would limit speed to 12Mb

2) if its a wired connection then what speed is the ethernet running at .... I remember when I upgraded to 20Mb broadband from 5Mb a few years ago I spent a month wondering why I was only seeing ~10Mb till I noticed that my old surfboard modem only had a 10Mb ethernet port ... quick call to VM and they sent me a "new" modem which had the 100Mb port and in turn that's just been replaced by a superhub to get the new 60Mb speed.

Nope... neither... cat6 cable between superhub & router... and another cat6 from router to server.

He thought I was talking about download speed I believe...

Just got off the phone to VM - they guy said I have to 'upgrade' to the SuperHub to go from 50Mb to 100. It that right? - aren't there loads of people here that are using the old VMNG300v2?

Also what is exactly involved in the speed increase - what will the technician do when he come to my house - can't it just be done over the phone?

EDIT: BOOOO-YEEEEEAH!

Spoke to a very helpful lady @ VM and explained my modem is capable of 100+Mb - can you just activate me know...so she did :D

Two fingers to the jobsworth VM guy saying I needed the technician to install the cruddy SH.

Speed is a little low as I don't have a Gigabit port on my PC :o. Need to get the Intel card

Mines now delayed till December when it was July, lol so ridiculous VM.

Your speed upgrade is going
to take a little longer
We estimate your area will be ready between:
December 2012 and May 2013

FFS!!! Anyone in Macc had the speed increase?

Mine went from July to December 2012 onwards, just rang and said

Hi, I got a letter stating Id be doubled in July and I've just checked the website and have been pushed back. Was just wondering why?

He looked and said, yeah you've been pushed back. No problem, il double it now if that's ok? Or is that a silly question and he laughs..

Im like cheers and its done instantly.. :) buzzing

God damn it!

Going to phone them up later and get them to upgrade me manually. No way I'm paying the same as a new customer pays for 100mb but only get 50mb any longer.

Well after a (annoyingly) long phone call I've got the desired result...

Running with 6 downstream channels and 10mb upload too!

:D

Jus phoned cancelations and asked for the upgrade as new customs can get 100mb why can’t I? I was prepared for a row, but the guy on the phone was great, he started by saying It’s not just a flick of a switch as engineers need to upgrade the infrastructure, he then said hang on, I’ll try…he said it can be done, it’ll take about 24 hours…while I was on the phone I ran speed test and got 92mb! (I was getting 24mb as I’ve hit my limit (Steam Sale))…turns out it is a flick of a switch.

An engineer is coming round on Friday with a Super hub, as I’ve got “Ambit modem”, are the Superr Hub's OK now? The Ambit modern is plugged into the old Netgear WNR2000 router then into a gigabit switch, am I better with the Super hub > Switch?

Cheers

you have this ugly thing?:

WNR2000 if you need wifi - switch if you don't. Test out the SH first to see if that's any good for you.

I moved from 20Mb with the Ambit up to 60Mb with the Superhub about a month ago. I just put it straight into modem mode, into my DIR615 router which handles wireless. Speed seemed to be a bit variable for a few days, but after that everything works perfectly, very happy.

Make sure the engineer gives you a new power supply for the superhub. Some engineers say that the old Ambit one is OK, but they are known to give problems sometimes. INSIST on a new power supply to go with the superhub.

Hamg on, I must have it wrong, I've got this one:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Edit, is this one OK with 100MB?

The new modem will have the following specifications:-

■EuroDOCSIS 3.0/DOCSIS 3.0 Operation
■EuroDOCSIS/DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compatible
■Supports four channel bonding
■Ethernet Interface (RJ-45) (10/100/1000 Mbps compatible)

Wha number did you phone for this? I assume you rnag 150, but then what?

Might phone and give it a go.
No I don't have a land line so called 01264 401402 and selected the option which was "change package" if they don't help ask to be put through to cancellations :)

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Took me a bit of persuasion but got there. He said it might take 24 hours but as with you it was done before I got off the phone. If their website says you can get it then it really is just the flick of a switch, or not even that it's a few clicks of their mouse!

Is there any numbers for virgin that can be used with my mobiles free minuets? I make it a point not to ring unless it can use my free minutes. I hear of a 033 number but not sure.

Tho got a tech coming on fri to adjust power levels and check a cabinet in the street as its open which might be causing my problems as of late and somit about t3 timeouts that one guy said it was the cause for my major packetloss last night.
