Macbook Retina Gaming Q&A

the 650m is a really nice card, very good in games and doesnt have too much heat got to love it :D.

I've just ordered myself a laptop cooler with a massive 200mm fan to stop any throttling of the chip! Is a very capable chip it seems! They're onto a winner.

I got one, though I don't do any benchmarking and those kinda things... have left that nerdiness behind me years ago :D

Is there a specific test you'd like me to run, that won't take forever to run?

Cinebench would be pretty cool to see! Only like 150mb and takes like 2 minutes! :)

Under windows and OS X if you can! :p

Did I do it right?

Code:
CORES=4
LOGICALCORES=2

Were you running any other programs while the benchmark was taking place?

Here's what i scored on a normal "not-as-overclocked" uMBP.

In OS X, hence the lower score. Is the lower score due to it being in OS X or to do with the benchmark not being optimised for the Mac as much as windows as it's like a 17% boost in Windows!

EDIT - I'm intrigued to see if they update the drivers in ML. Not put the GM yet as it's out today/tomorrow.

Yea, some apps (skype, dropbox little snitch etc) were in the background and it was done in OSX Lion.

I'll do it again this evening on both platforms.

Nice one dude! :D

Just interesting to see the difference between the two MacBooks!

Got a usb 3.0 enclosure for my 256gb Agility 3 I had lying around to move stuff to, will be moving steam so ill see how that performs and report back.

Very interested in the performance through USB3!

That's one thing that i'd want on my standard MacBook...3 USBs!

Through Mac OS - Writes - 160mb average - Reads 130mb average.

Through bootcamp win 7 - writes 20mb/read 20mb with assd. Which kinda scuppers my plans to put steam onto it if its as slow as 20/20 - im guessing it doesnt have usb 3 drivers in windows, only usb 2?
