Don't bother waiting. I'm assuming you are thinking that the release of next gen consoles will reduce the price of the PC or something? Chances are it wont, a £1000 pc I believe will surpass the next gen consoles easily, unless Sony/Microsoft have something big up their sleeves.. Although even then to upgrade a PC to that wouldn't be that expensive.
BTW, I recently just upgraded to a ~£1000 machine from a Samsung R580 and it is the best buy I've ever made! it's TONS better.
As far as choosing AMD/Intel and AMD/NVIDIA, generally Intel processors are superior. The choice between an AMD/NVIDIA depends on how much you decide to spend on a card. Chances are for a £1000 spec you will be going for a AMD 7850.
Hey Zaruz, what spec machine did you get to upgrade from your R580? Thanks.
Rumours of a cut down 7970 for PS4, not sure about 720.
Brilliant, thanks Zaruz. I've not had an SSD before but I'm guessing the performance improvement for gaming is pretty noticeable?
Should I just dive in and get the kit, and then work out later how to put it all together?
I've replaced drives, graphics cards, power supplies, RAM before but never put one together from scratch. Looking forward to it though!
