GTX 680 prices

I have to agreed the GTX680 is poor value and overpriced considering unlike GTX580 vs 6970 last gen which the GTX580 have a big lead in performance.

But to be honest, the whole current gen of cards are overpriced....GTX670 and 7970 should be at the same price as GTX570 and 6970 launch price, not £50~£80 more!

Also, has anyone noticed? 7750 replace 5770/6770 price range but it is SLOWER! 7770 replace GTX6850/GTX6870 price range but it is SLOWER! Someone tell me that the GPU makers are not trying to rip us off? Sure they are lower power consumption, but WHO CARES when new gen card are slower than the old gen cards they replace!?

tommybhoy, longer doesnt = better value!

You obviously missed the point.
As well.

19 months ago, 2X6950<£400 unlocked and clocked which has slightly more grunt than clocked 680/7970 under water@1080p in more titles than not, that = better value!;)

Again, my comments were not based on a performance point of view as such, it was based on a manufacturing cost/silicon worth/profits point of view.

Completely useless barometer of driver problems to be fair...

+1

@spoffle, can you find me any gpu series red or green that has zero driver issues?

They both can be problematic, as hardware configs are almost limitless, there is always going to be problems.

Still a little warm to be ranting :D

Facts remain the same as we have said before, Nvidia can match what's out there with it's mid range card and get away with top prices just because us idiots pay it :D

The 670/680 has it's nut's screwed off to do it ! Look at the new lightnings and Evga classifieds, they have no more to give, OC wise.

Tell you something for nothing also, the 600 series plays benchmarks better than games and other things.

The 7750 doesn't replace the 5770/6770, it replaces the 5750/6750, likewise the 7770 doesn't replace the 6850/6870.

There is more performance because it's a new generation, but it doesn't work like how you describe although a lot think it does.

That was actually my point, the futility of looking at things in such a way.

I believe for the most part most people have no issues with their hardware regardless of manufacturer (as I said in another thread).

Yeah it is overpriced, but what stops me from buying one isn't the price (well a little) it's the fact that this " 680 " isn't the card they originally intended to release, It is infact the " 660 " rebranded as a " 680 " So no money from me! lol :)

Really?

I think the prices are ridiculous too yet I went out and bought one. Should have saved myself £100 and got a 670 tbh.
