Home Buttons

Had it effect me in two iPhones now. It's definitely a common problem :(

Fortunately, I haven't had it happen on my iPhone 4S... yet :p But you can already tell it has become weaker than when it was new.

Had my home button fail on my iphone 4, when it was approx 6 months old. Apple replaced the whole phone under warranty.

My wifes iPhone 4 home button is quite tempremental these days, though mine bought at launch isnt.

Dont think hers is in warranty anymore, what are the odd's of apple doing anything about it?

When I had the same problem on my iPhone 4 it was three months out of warranty and they didn't want to know. Initially they did take it out the back and presumably cleaned it or some such, which made very little difference, I returned a couple of weeks later and just paid the £120 for a replacement.

I wish we had the two year warranty as they do in some eu countries.

We do have the same warranty as we're in the EU, do we not? The difference is, the two year warranty only covers defects when the customer takes delivery as opposed to after the customer takes delivery (although I'm still clueless as to how that's supposed to work). With the standard Apple warranty (not Apple care) you have a year after you've taken delivery to return it due to defects.

The only way you'd be able to get them to replace it after a year, is if you start a campaign for people to come forward who experienced home button issues, can prove it's a faulty design and start a class action lawsuit. Same as they did in the states with the T shaped chargers fraying and other things like that.
