Hey,

I have an old PC lying around,

3800x2
MSI K8N board
4GB of RAM (IIRC)
7800GTX

Now, if I had to upgrade the GFX card to say a 560 would it work? I mean would I be able to play new games on the market?

Basically I could justify to spend about £160-190 to upgrade. I want to get back into PC gaming without spending a fortune. :)

That CPU would be a bottleneck for the 560 and modern games especially multiplayer stuff like BF3 would really struggle on that CPU.

Total : £197.32 including next day delivery

That graphics card has been 10 pounds cheaper before so it might go down in price.

Can you re-use case/psu/hdd ? Or you could probably sell your current pc for ~100 and have enough for new ones.

Thanks for that, shall have a look.

Don't think I would buy brand new mind. So much to be got second hand. Say if I had to spend £200 on Mobo, Processor and RAM. What would I be looking at 2nd hand?

Yeah looking at the prices, it seems the way to go.

I think with an i7 I should still be able to run most games even with my outdated gfx card?

Its mostly going to be an XBMC machine ma with the odd game here and there.

I wouldn't be using a 7800gtx with an i7 920.

The system I posted above would be a better choice if 200 is all you want to spend.

The celeron g530 is a great cpu for its price.
