Why did you choose your current motor?

Manufacturer/Model/Year: BMW M3 2008
Engine: 4L V8 I think
Purchase/current miles: 36k/48k
Trim Level: Have no idea. Doesn't have EDC, which is only annoying because my old one did - even though I never used it. I still don't understand rugby 7s.
Justification for ownership: Old one got stolen, so was a big **** you to thieves. Bough same car. Don't pay for fuel either, so fuel consumption of little interest.
Happy with the car?: Yes. The M3 is an awesome car. Very balanced, fantastic performance, every drive is an event.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Seat Leon FR TDI (2007/56)
Engine: 2.0 TDI 170ps
Purchase/current miles: 54K/119K
Trim Level: FR
Justification for ownership: Needed something to do ~25K a year in.
Happy with the car?: Yes and no. At first I couldn't be happier with it but at nearly 120K miles i'm getting worried it's going to start throwing bills soon if I don't shift it. But i'll be in something else before the end of the year anyway.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Volvo V70 XC
Engine: 5pot 2.4t
Purchase/current miles:120k/125k
Trim Level:SE
Justification for ownership:Had to sell my clio 172 as I needed an automatic and something bigger. Looked at numerous 5 series and mondeos but settled on this.
Happy with the car?: Yes and no. Love the space/spec. love the grip. 18ish mpg around town is **** but will do 42ish on a run.

Manufacturer/Model/Year:Mercedes Benz CLK 1998
Engine: 3.2 V6
Purchase/current miles:73,000/73500
Trim Level:Elegance
Justification for ownership:Wanted something for a relaxing commute and always like them since launch
Happy with the car?: Relatively, I think I jumped in on a good offer from the dealer and should have seen a few more be fore I went for it but it has been bliss wafting about the lanes here rather than feeling every ripple in the tarmac in my former ride. Too early to discuss reliability, but I can do a lot of the maintenance myself, and it seems simple to work on.

Manufacturer/Model/Year:BMW 328i 2000
Engine:2.8 petrol s6 (manual)
Purchase/current miles:88/88
Trim Level:SE? I think anyway, leather seats, 6 cd changer, auto wipers, schnitzer sports pack, few other bits and bobs.
Justification for ownership:It was my parents from about 60k miles, they've done a reasonableish job of servicing it, but there's nothing major wrong with the car, just the usual bushes and things. I do about 6k miles a year, if that, so MPGZ weren't a consideration, I wanted something decent, quick and vaguely practical.
Happy with the car?:Yes, I am absolutely loving the thing, it's the quickest car I've owned, and the most comfortable, sure-footed and nice looking.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Ford Focus 08
Engine: 2.5 Turbo
Purchase/current miles: 25,000/42,800
Trim Level: ST3 (full leather recaros)
Justification for ownership: Always wanted one, massive Ford fanboy, and focus is the only cars I have ever owned. A Mk1 RS was my main aspiration until they released the new ST. More powerful, refined, prefer the interior and exterior looks. I have ticked a box in life ambitions.
Happy with the car?: Yes, really happy as *touch wood, hasn't caused any major problems at all. Only costs me servicing and fuel so far. I think I'm due tyres and brakes in the next 5k miles however. Solid car, excellent power and nice toys inside too.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Ford Focus Zetec 2001
Engine: 1.6l
Purchase/current miles: 80000 now 84000
Trim Level: Zetec
Justification for ownership: Needed a cheap car to get me to and from work. This was less than £500 with Tax and MOT as well as a recent clutch.
Happy with the car?: Yes. Couple of little issues, as you would expect from a cheap car, but overall its been great. Technically this is my first car too. DVLA are messing around with the V5 though, and I need to tax it tomorrow, and hopefully a 4 month old section 10 will be enough with the MOT and Insurance!

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Mercedes Benz E350CDI Sport(2011)
Engine: 3L V6 Diesel (265bhp)
Purchase/current miles: 9k / 16k
Trim Level: Sport
Justification for ownership: Fancied something a little bigger than the C-Class for long drives in the UK and driving down to Spain. Car allowance mostly covers the finance so it really isn't a huge cost to me.
Happy with the car?: 53MPG on a good run and 85MPH at under 2K RPM... of course I'm happy. I love driving the car and doesn't feel nearly 2 tonnes (with passengers) when you are driving down a tight B road.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Honda Civic Ctdi 2007
Engine: 2.2 I4 diseasel with remap
Purchase/current miles: 65ishk/ 78k
Trim Level: EX
Justification for ownership: Went down to one car which was my mk3 mr2 - the boss insisted it wasn't working having a 2 seater car with no ability to take much in the way of stuff as our only car (I disagreed, but we all know that doesn't matter). Always fancied this model of civic, wanted a 5 door and thought the 1.8 petrol drove like a bag of ****. Looked for a diesel, found one that had a recent clutch and remap already into the bargain.
Happy with the car?: Yes and no - It offers a great level of kit for the money, wasn't expensive and it's quite nice having a newer car where I don't need to grind off every second bolt. It's comfortable, very practical and reasonably swift. Handles decently considering it's got the heavy lump upfrtont. On the down sides it's got the wrong number of cylinders, it's wrong wheel drive, I prefer a small, mid engined car and to be perfectly honest it's quite boring - then again it spends most of it's time driving to work and back.

Secret plan is to pay it off early next year, give it to the mrs to use and buy something I actually want. Have managed to convince myself it doesn't cost much more to run a second car despite experience of it telling me otherwise.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: MG ZS 110+ 2004 Saloon

Engine: 1.6 K series

Purchase/current miles:
48000 / 76000

Trim Level: 110+ (Front electric windows, mirrors, heated rear screen and air con)

Justification for ownership:
My Fiat Brava's steering rack was on its last legs, it wouldn't always start and the fuel injector light would sometimes come on. I sold it to a polish bloke and looked for something that would be a bit more me in terms of looks and handling, saw the ZS and managed to get an alright price with 12 months tax/mot.

Happy with the car?: The handling was completely different to anything I had driven before and the engine pulls pretty well compared to the 1.6 in the Brava. Lost some practicality as the back seats don't really fold down and its a saloon, the suspension is savage on speed bumps and you need to go quite slow to avoid spine damage. At the moment I'm not seeing much benefit to the hard suspension as I'm just commuting 70 miles of motorway 5 days a week, however the 40+ mpg is a nice touch for this kind of use. I think I want to change it to something more comfortable but after the hail storm it's going to be impossible to sell it so I'll have to keep it until I finish uni at least.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Lolvo V40 1999
Engine: 1.8 petrol
Purchase/current miles: 104k/105k
Trim Level:XS
Justification for ownership:Cheapest to insure, in budget decent sized estate in good condition which was available on short notice at the time.
Happy with the car?: No. It's too slow, has a terrible autobox, wallows like a drunken whale, the interior is a drab grey sea of drabness. Cannot wait to get rid, but unfortunately finances/circumstances wont allow it at the moment =( (I miss my Legnum! *cry*)

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Volvo S60 2005
Engine: 2.4 Turbo petrol
Purchase/current miles:52000/59500
Trim Level: T5 Sport
Justification for ownership: Love the look of the car, the package it offered at the price point and the performance. Had an older one previously but with an auto gear box which died so I had to get rid of it unfortunately, had been looking for a decent manual ever since.
Happy with the car?: Yep, had it mapped and changed a few bits and it's running really well. No desire to change for a long time.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: 1998 Honda Integra Type-R (DC2)
Engine: 1.8 DOHC VTEC B18C6
Purchase/current miles: 70 odd
Trim level: N/A
Justification for ownership: Needed to upgrade my old Sunny SR for something more fun and faster. Wanted a car that handled perfectly, went like stink, was unusual/rare and also had some practicality.
Spent loads with it being a project, but love it to bits and don't see myself selling it. Track slaag in the making when/if I decide to get something nicer, but I have other priorities for my disposable income atm, mainly fun and holidays :D

Happy with the car?: HELLYESNO. It's like love; both the best and worst thing in your life. On the plus side it's cheap to maintain, especially brakes/tyres and the only things gone wrong have been a split outer CV gaitor and a faulty ABS sensor (in progress).

Engine:3.0 s50b30
Purchase/current miles:160,000 (ive added about 200 miles, including driving it home)
Trim Level:M3
Justification for ownership:i really fancied one
Happy with the car?: over the moon

MPG is epic. has barely cost me a penny in fuel. the car was ace in the snow, absolutely rock solid in the snow we had earlier this year as it has been on axle stands the entire time. starts first time, everytime. 100% out of 12 start ups is still 100%.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Vauxhall Corsa 2012
Engine:1.3CDTI
Purchase/current miles:16miles New. but driven about 500 since.
Trim Level:Active
Justification for ownership:This is second car in the household, previous car was a vectra so fuel wouldn't last long, plus with my wifes work she needed the vectra.
Happy with the car?: Absolutely love it, cut the cost of fuel by a far margin, it's not hot hatch but does whats on the tin.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Honda CRV 2010
Engine: 2.0 Petrol VTEC
Purchase/current miles: 0 / 10500
Trim Level: ES + Auto
Justification for ownership: Needed an armchair on wheels due to badly damaged discs in my lower back which the TypeR was trying its hardest to finish off.
Happy with the car?: Yeah. Easy, relaxed, comfortable drive. Exactly what I was looking for.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: 2003 Ford Focus

Engine: 1.6 Petrol

Purchase/current miles: 56k/62k

Trim Level: Elle (Zetec with leather seats and different wheels.

Justification for ownership: It's the cheapest to run and most reliable rubbish small hatchback.

Happy with the car?: It's god awful slow but it's served a purpose, passenger window regulator has died and it's such an awkward job to do I haven't bothered fixing it yet.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Mazda MX5 Mk1 1994 JDM (1998 import)
Engine: 1.6 w/ pipecross intake/filter and a lovely exhaust system (unknown brand).
Purchase/current miles: 118,000
Trim Level: Roadster Eunos
Justification for ownership: You guys suggested it for a first car. I love little sports cars. So it was a perfect option for me.
Happy with the car?: I have done a few things since buying but nothing major. That begins next month with the ICE being upgraded and all bushes being replaced for poly bushes! Followed by coilovers. So far, the mpg has been bang on! around 35-40mpg. Unless I am hooning it around. A few squeaks from the old bushes. Wheels are not in the best shape. Body work needs some love (faded areas). But the drive, oh god what fun! Perfect first car if you don't need space haha.

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Jaguar XF 2009
Engine: 3.0v6 D
Purchase/current miles: 34k/36k
Trim Level:Portfolio
Justification for ownership: IMO best looking car in its class
Happy with the car?: Over the moon

Manufacturer/Model/Year: Nissan 200Sx 2000
Engine: 2.0
Purchase/current miles: 37k/74k
Trim Level:Touring
Justification for ownership: Was my dream car many years ago
Happy with the car?: Dont really drive it much any more so going to sell it soon but was and is a fantastic car just not comfortable like the XF.

Manufacturer/Model/Year:Toyota Celica GT-Four 1994
Engine: 3S-GTE 2.0L Turbo
Purchase/current miles: ~110,000
Trim Level: GT-Four
Justification for ownership: I had built up enough no claims and driving experience (2yrs) with my previous car, a 2001 Honda Civic 1.6 ep2 and felt it was time to move onto better & faster things.
I didn't have a boat load of cash, and more importantly, as a young driver not much choice when it comes to ridiculous insurance quotes as I did originally want to jump straight to the EP3 Type-R as I was more than happy with the civic.
But at the back of my mind for some time before even passing my test I always wanted the car I played in Sega Rally, encountered it first time when playing my cousin's Sega Saturn as a child...and of course the premium the Delta HF Integrale commands is crazy so that was out :p
It happened to be the right time as a buyer because of petrol prices and the high cost of ownership on certain components that can go wrong on the GT4 they were very cheap for what you get out of the box standard (JDM 255Bhp)
So, as you're only young once I went for one that had all the expensive jobs done.

Happy with the car?: Absolutely, now that I have an AVCR boost controller wired in to make the car boost at standard in all gears (ECU retards boost in 1st&2nd gear) acceleration is brutal as it just takes off and grips with the 50/50 split 4 wheel drive system. And of course performed well in winter even with rubbish summer tyres.
The car was at a good base to start increasing performance and adding to so I will be kept busy with it for the time being until I get a proper full-time job and earn a high enough wage to move onto better and faster things again.
Still miss the comfort and ease of driving of the Civic at times though; always miss your first car though, don't you?
