Gamer dies after 40 hour Diablo III marathon

I've done a 30 hour stint of Football Manager 2008 before.

Good times.

Would do again, but I had a lot of trouble sleeping afterward - so I guess it's a no no.

40 hours isn't hardcore, I have done a bigger stint than that either gaming or partying.

Then again, with Diablo III so repetitive towards the end of the game - a fact even Blizzard admits - perhaps the poor lad was simply bored to death, literally.

The developer released a statement in regard to Chuang's demise. "We're saddened to hear this news, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. We don't feel it would be appropriate for us to comment further without knowing all of the circumstances involved," it said, before commenting further:

"While we recognise that it's ultimately up to each individual or their parent or guardian to determine playing habits, we feel that moderation is clearly important, and that a person's day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment."

lol

Scary stuff, someone playing a game for 40 hours! Not even a decent game either. Now if it was Fallout 3 then maybe I could understand.............

I've done some long stints watching TV shows. In fact I started getting some health issues after watching for almost 8 hours in one go and I'm wondering if it could be related.

I always try and stop every few hours to do something else now after realising how dangerous it is.,

Watching entire seasons of SG1 in one go... feels good man.

Got to watch out for that deep vein thrombosis though.

We had two bags of amethyst, seventy-five pellets of emerald, five sheets of high powered pages of training, a salt shaker half full of subtle essence, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored fallen tooth, lizard eye, encrusted hooves, iridescent tears... and also a quart of lesser health potion, a quart of heroic health potion, a case of bottled cloud, a pint of raw spring dye and two dozen angelic wings.

Not that we needed all that for the quest, but once you get locked into a serious loot collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

Surely the fact he died playing a game is just a coincidence? During my less sensible years I have stayed awake longer without eating and only drinking cans of larger on a fairly regular basis and even now I berry occasionally I will have a heavy night and will skip sleep on a sat night.
