Anyone been to Vegas? Holiday questions

The Skybridge isn't over the Grand Canyon. It's over a side canyon and run by a bunch of people who want to make you think its the real thing.

Its still in the grand canyon.

Anyway the point was you could drive in a relatively short time to go there if you really wanted to, we drove the other week to a ranch not far from it then did the helicopter from there.

It sucks, its not as good and it almost always works out more expensive because they charge you for everything bar the air you breath. You can't even take photos!

It's all about the North or South rim :p

Death Valley is no more than a stopping point, don't stay there, if you can imagine the hottest driest place you can then double it you may come close, cars overheat if you have the a/c on and the a/c in stovepike wells is noisy as hell.

It was raining when we went through death valley :D and the grand canyon was so foggy we could barely see it. Went back a year or so later, and the grand canyon had snow in it. Wasn't even close to winter both times!

Agreed :)

Just got back for Vegas. I'd say it's a mixed bag and depends very much on what you want out of it. I was there for two days and to be honest that was enough. I'd recommend the "Gun store" like a an earlier poster, lots of fun firing guns that you'd never get close ot in the UK. The fountains at the Belagio are also worth taking in. You can see them from inside the hotel in a bar with an open fronted veranda. The night life is good, clubs of all sorts.

I just found the whole place exhausting after a while. The casinos are thoroughly depressing places. Defintely worth a visit, but keep the flexibility to move on if it's not for you.

Flying to the GC is the way to go. It free's up a lot of time. We got the chopper ride to the bottom and got a ride in a boat. Don't ask the price as gamestation paid for all of it:D:eek::cool:

I couldn't believe how hot it was driving through Death Valley - we couldn't understand why there were fixed metal signs at the side of the road saying to turn off your A/C!?!?! But to be honest, if we hadn't done it, I'm convinced that our 4x4 (a relatively new Buick Rendezvouz) would have overheated! (it was well into the red on the temperature gauge during climb up the mountain!!!)

Had no such issues in my Mustang. Had the AC on the entire time :p

It wasnt overly hot when you were there though with the time of year though, wasnt it something like 120f when you were at death valley?

(i know its hot but compared to the summer temps) - my mustang pre crash was showing 140f on the dash through the centre of vegas, it was roasting even with the aircon on full whack
