Yet another stupid idea from Facebook

Or maybe I have better things to do than waste my time looking through hundreds of "look at me i'm drunk in a club" photos, wishing random people happy birthday because facebook reminds me, and reading through status updates which 99% of the time are of absolutely no interest of concern to me.

The only useful feature of facebook is that people can use it to e-mail or post to tell me about stuff or talk to me, both of which can be done just as well or better by a normal e-mail service or IM such as Skype.

Hence facebook sucks. It's also hugely intrusive to your privacy which unless you're an idiot you should be extremely concerned about

Just because it doesn't fit how you like to communicate, doesn't mean it sucks.

How is it so intrusive to your privacy?

basically people who don't like it tend to have small social circles/limited friends

if you're a non-graduate living in the same naff town you grew up in, friends with the same chavvy people you went to school with and see the same people in your local pub/club every Friday then yes, facebook is a waste of time for you

You obviously didn't read my previous post where I mentioned I only use it to keep up to date with musicians and artists.

You don't have to add any friends, you can use it to keep up to date with your interests.

Remember, it's not the tools, it's how people use them.

So what you are saying is that any friends you might have are the sorts of people who post inane crap?

SORT IT OUT FACEBOOK OR YOU'LL FIND LOADS OF PEOPLE LEAVING!

Dear Original Poster,

This isn't Facebook. This isn't the place to give your feedback. Facebook aren't going to respond to it here (they're not going to respond to it anywhere because you're not a customer).

Anyway, must dash - I'm off to Asda to complain about Tesco Value chicken.

P.s. if you leave Facebook they won't care.

Good to see the hate bandwagon is still full to bursting. Wouldn't want things to become unhinged in the universe!

I really don't get all the Facebook hate. "Your" Facebook landscape is as banal as you want it to be. I find it a very valuable tool for keeping in touch with people, looking into others' holidays and sharing my own etc., and believe it or not, a much more successful business communication/networking tool than LinkedIn.

Sure, there are people on there posting nothing but inane nonsense every other minute, but it's your choice to keep it there. Seriously, it's such a lowest common denominator activity to fill something that's almost entirely under your control with stuff that annoys you, then complain about it. Brilliant; well done.

Google "facebook privacy concerns" and see for yourself. I'm not doing your research for you.

And yes, it does suck. I respect that others can disagree, but in my opinion, it sucks.

So what you are saying is that any friends you might have are the sorts of people who post inane crap?

"sorts of people"... lol. I have about 200 friends on facebook. Out of that 200, yes I will freely admit that about 180 of them are only vague acquaintances and generally don't post anything of interest to me personally. The other 20 "proper" friends are all like me - they have BETTER THINGS TO DO than spend their time on facebook. There is the occasional funny status or whatever, but nothing particularly mind-blowing.

You are basically saying "if you don't like facebook then your friends are all boring". There is just no logical path from premise to conclusion with that statement. I'm sure facebook would be great if I had 100 people who spent large amounts of their time posting and discussing things on it, however as I said, my friends have better things to do like... you know, having a life. Studying, travelling, meeting up in person etc.

I will admit that facebook can be good for, like people have said, keeping up with bands etc etc. But overall I just don't like it.

In short, yes, you have stated that the friends you have post inane crap or nothing, so the sum of that will be inane crap.

I would say that's the primary cause of your problems with Facebook.
