There's only three in the Olympics for the moment, probably the clearest explanation I've seen yet is Yahoo news although you may want to ignore the predictions as they're somewhat American biased.

I just watched the repeat of the final round for nicola adams. Holding the referees hand, her arm was up before the announcer had even got to "..in the blue corner.." as though the ref was jumping the gun a bit?
