For those that are interested the ISS is passing over the UK tonight, it should be visible at 00:28 on 10th August 2012 for about five minutes as a very bright fast moving dot going SW to NE!

Put your location in here to find out exactly when for you.

You can also download Stellarium to see when it's coming.

If you have an Android phone download the free app called Satellite AR, that'll use GPS to work out where you are and will tell you when the ISS is next passing over - along with loads of satellites!

I don't know what the iPhone equivalent is...perhaps someone can tell me and I can add it to this post.

:D

Thanks for this, bookmarked that site. Will miss it tonight..stupid street lights

But next time I will drive to a dark place and check it out!!

Unless your back yard is in the middle of nowhere probably not. Light pollution sucks, as the night sky is truly amazing

Just watched it whizz past out of my living room window..... it's amazing thinking about what you're actually watching.

I check nearly every week with Stellarium, its awesome :D I even took my laptop on holiday because I knew being in the middle of nowhere would give me a cracking view. Getting a telescope soon, can't wait!

ive just saw it really really bright. also there was a very dim object moving in almost parallel direction. defo not a plane. did anyone else see it? thanks for posting this op, made me run outside quick!

Brilliant !!! I just recorded it. Unbelievable. I clicked onto this thread knowing nothing about it flying over at 22:50 :D

I live in quite a rural village on the outskirts of Leicester so turned all my lights off and looked out of the sky lights in my converted attic.

I made a recording too :)

Will upload now. Thank you for this! Made mine and my girlfriend's day, ( who I shouted as soon as I saw it coming over our roof)

I think i saw it. Just saw this thread at 10.51pm, went outside, clear skies. Saw a plane, then saw another object moving at a similar speed to a plane, but without flashing lights, just one very bright light about the size of a north star.
