Have you ever been in a street fight/comfrontation?

It's not about being brave. It's scary as hell. As you said in your OP, the fear hits. It's just about getting yourself out of the situation as quickly as possible. You could spend a minute puffing up your chest along with the aggressor and trading insults... but all that is, is both parties squaring off to see who is going to throw the first punch. And getting punched isn't nice. So don't get punched first.

Do you know any martial arts? Or do you just hit and hope for the best? Could be a bad ending for you if you go up against someone who knows how to defend themselves.

Carry and knife and stab them dead, that's what I do, though the XXY special combo is a challenge for my arthritic fingers these days.

I whip out my swiss army knife, make a few small cuts on my knuckles so they bleed a little, then shout that I'm HIV positive.

Works a treat.

Been in a few. I am a pacifist but I am lucky in that I have a strong chin. I usually try and talk my way out of it, but have been hit a few times. I get punched but stand my ground and usually they give up either thinking I am not worth it, or a nutter.

Laid out 2 guys once though but was forced into it as they were threatening a lady friend.

Did lady friend return any favours?

No. I did a bit of boxing in my teens though which is a few years ago now.

I usually aim for the chin. If you hit them right, you'll floor them. Which is much easier with angry drunks in the bar. Every time I've been on the receiving end of someone attacking first, they've gone for the front of my face. Either standing in close and headbutting or aiming straight for the nose. Which has never dropped me. It's bust my nose and left me with blood all over my face and tears streaming. But never knocked me out. Which means I'm still standing and can retaliate.

It just means the altercation is going to last a bit longer until the bouncers or police get in to break it up. I've no worries about people defending themselves. The main worry is, is the guy, UDA, UVF, UFF or some other paramilitary wing and is my front door going to get kicked in because I've fought back?

A few, I've stopped more fight than I've actually been involved in.

OP, you sound like you think you are better than you think you are and need to find somewhere else to go out on a night

Had to nut a few idiots before yea, people dont normally mess with a badass like me

I would imagine that there's very few people in this country, over the age of 18, that have never been in a street fight/confrontation.

Go to where the pubs and clubs are in any city in Britain on a Friday or Saturday night, hang around long enough, and it will kick off, every single time.

I would love to see aggressive drunks get banned from drinking any kind of alcohol, but unfortunatley that's almost completely unenforcable, so the rest of us will have to suffer these fools instead.

Yeah, but I try to avoid them. The main problem being that if I was to beat the confronter up, he'll probably get his cronies on to me as well.

I generally notice that people who know how to layeth the smackdown on someone talk themselves out of a fight. People who do boxing and cage fighting etc etc. I know once you hit a certain level in one of these sports your hands/feet are classed as weapons.

Yeh, but the last person who did ended up in the back of the police van, in a pair of handcuffs, crying.

Not sure if this counts but had a shootout in a public park once. Proper OK Corral ****. That really got the adrenaline pumping! Was all over in less than 30 seconds from start to finish and thankfully I am still here to tell the tale. :D

Not really recommended though. Fists usually results in a less permanent outcome.

NB

In these threads you never hear any stories about people being at the receiving end of a knock out punch

I think that's an old rumour that relates to boxing and boxers needing to register themselves to get a license. Imagine every time a squadie got into a **** up fight, they were hauled before the courts as technically, they are lethal weapons given the training they receive which specific purpose is simply to kill.

I think you're more likely to win a case arguing excessive use of force than assault with a deadly weapon (for bare hands). And that again depends on how much force you use to resolve the problem. It's one thing to hit someone and drop them and walk away, it's another to hit someone, drop them, then proceed to kick their head around like a football (which I had the displeasure of being on the receiving end of).

What were you doing with a gun in a public park then? Or is that why you have Thug under your name :p
