My wife is Chinese and she says that a marriage certificate (it's more like a little passbook actually) costs in the region of 50-100 yuan, i.e. about £5-10. The higher fees you may see on t'interweb sites (up to 1000 yuan, not pounds!) are only ever encountered by foreign people having to translate marriage certificates into Chinese.

Do you actually think that all Chinese couples could afford a £1000 marriage certificate? How would someone in the countryside earning a pittance afford that?

1. Cost about that much.
2. If you fold few a4 peaces of paper you can come up with passport size booklet.
3. Being married entitles you to what? Well in UK to few perks. In China NOTHING.

Lets face the facts people I have discovered amazing business model. Chinese government is racking in money from the paper work of marriage. Thats a fact. Its all facts. Not fiction and banning me for such amazing feat of intelligence would contribute to the rising injustice of power abuse of some the moderators on this forum.
