Bargain 182

These things are silly money right now. There is one up the road from me on a forecort same colour as this one for £1995. Drove past it a few times and thought it looked pretty good.

Mate of mine got a 172 with belts done and under 100k on it for £1200.

They are painful for insurance though, and have an image of being expensive to run (it is only an image, they are easily able to do high 30's mpg), so people just don't want them.

Last belt change I had on mine with the full belt kit was around £500 from a local indy.

It was 2 years ago now, but then the car was an X reg phase 1, but I sold it for over 2k having just had belts and brakes done.

Lol, have fun taking it to an indy, best of luck of the impeding failure!

May as well take it to NWP :p On a serious note, you're selling it to make a few hundred, is it worth it?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it has

Bugger all more money in reality?

Edit I shall clarify bugger all money more : He wants to sell his on. This one is a far better deal than what he wants to sell his on for to make a profit with the belts done....

Of course it is but it's £700 more. For a car like this being how old it is you can always spend £x more on something better.

If it was around £2k then I'd be agreeing with you. I know that car represents better value but as a % it's quite a big jump.

£700 with the belts done etc though?

So works out not for off the same price but less miles?

Or am I missing something?

I'll get sine pics up when I've done the wheels and bodywork. I'm confident I can still make a profit on it around here. If I'm proven wrong then fair enough :)

Exactly, there will be people with £2000 and no more wanting a car like this. And worry about the belts etc afterwards.

Those thinking it's not a good deal? How cheap do you think you can get a 2005 182? Any lower and it'll sell for more breaking.

Some people won't have that extra £700. Granted they shouldnt be buying a high mileage 182 if that's the case but there are plenty of people out there who will.

What if you sell it and the cambelt snaps?

Surely trading is all about minimising risks? Where as you are playing a bit of a lottery with this purchase.

Tbh that's unlikely, if it did and I had to take the car back even then I could get my money back breaking it. I will probably do the wheels and bodywork as I said and sell it cheap as is.

Probably stick more to the cheap run arounds tbh in the future.
