Firstly, I know there is an Olympics sub-forum, but I want the opinion of everyone. The sub-forum will obviously be biased.
Now that the Olympics has ended, I was wondering what the general consensus is as to how it went against your original expectations from a few months ago. Can a passing mode setup up a poll please:
- I thought it would be rubbish, it was rubbish
- I thought it would be rubbish, it was average
- I thought it would be rubbish, it was good
- I thought it would be average, it was rubbish
- I thought it would be average, it was average
- I thought it would be average, it was good
- I thought it would be good, it was rubbish
- I thought it would be good, it was average
- I thought it would be good, it was good
This is for the Olympics as a whole. So it includes everything from, the results, the transport, the volunteers, the park itself, the coverage, the opening closing ceremonies, the atmosphere, everything.
Personally I thought it was going to be good, and I was not let down. I thought everything about it was fantastic and I was gutted I didn’t get more time off work and more tickets last year.
Considering how our media like to cry out and make a fuss over anything mildly negative, during the two weeks I can only think of a few things that made the news in a negative light – all of which were completely un-newsworthy

- Security staff being replaced with the armed forces – who ended up doing a fantastic job
- Empty seats – was only a problem for the first day or two, and half of that was down to silly IOC rules about the ‘family and friends’ areas
- A lost set of keys at Wembley ....
- The inability of people to get tickets – yes the website could have been better, but there was never going to be a way of selling the tickets that everyone would be happy with, and the demand was far outweighing the supply
