3DS outsells all sony devices combined...

What I don't understand is that Sony have already lowered portable console sale predictions from 12 million to 10 million, yet according to sales numbers they are only shifting 9-10k units a week in Japan and around 10-12k a week in the US, so how on earth are they going to hit 10 million? There's no way Assassins Creed, Little Big Planet and CoD will make that much of a difference.

I've played through Final Fantasies 1-6 on handhelds without playing their console counterparts easily enough and I've even played through Final Fantasy VII on my PSP. You don't have to only play handhelds when you've only got a ten minute bus ride to work or 15 minutes during a break at work. I've clocked countless hours on handhelds just lounging around the house and it's even better when you go on holiday, imagine a world where only games like Angry Birds exist to keep you entertained on a 10 hour flight!

The XL or LL as it's called in Japan has just made the situation worse for Sony, because now the XL is selling around 80-85k a week in Japan and the normal 3DS is still selling its normal 40-45k a week in Japan. Compared to the Vita doing around 8-10k a week.
 
i bit the bullet today and traded in my vita for the XL.

i loved the vita but things have just gone stale for me. i might look again when things start happening.

Dont blame you, I would have done the same but I like to keep my consoles once Ive brought them.

Might pick up 3DS XL when New Super Mario Bros 2 its released next week. Finding the stadard 3DS screen hard to see with certain games or maybe my eyes are on their way out:(

I've never been much of a handheld gaming fan, even when I was a kid. If someone said I could have one of the newer devices for free I'd choose the 3DS because of first party Nintendo games. Any games with more depth than Mario I simply couldn't be bothered with on a handheld, I'd much rather use my PC.
 
The PlayStation brand hasn't had much marketing presence for years really, not when you compare it to Nintendo's awful adverts or the 360's logo at the end of almost every new multi-platform games release.

I can't remember the last time I saw an advert for a Sony console on TV, I usually only see them in the cinema.

It's too bad that generally in history, having the best hardware has almost never actually won anyone the console war for that generation.
