Hi all.

I posted this a while ago in General in regards to my system playing up.
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18427392

Essentially, my system was hanging on start up, and up to 10 mins into a full boot. Once I got past the 10 min mark, I knew it was going to be stable. I could load any game on full settings, mess about with video encoding and other CPU and GPU intensive applications, and it never had any problems as long as it had been on for a while.

I've now been using my onboard to test my system on start up etc, and have had zero problems. No hanging, freezing, crashes or anything.

My question is; do you think this could be my GFX card dying? If so, how come I can push it to extreems once i've safely booted? I really don't understand what is wrong with it?

Would there be any way to properly test it (not got the option of swapping it into different systems).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sadly I feel you already know the answer and a replacement GPU could be your only hope.

You could try cleaning the GPU and also make sure the fans are working correctly by running afterburner (monitor temps). As a last resort if it is still not fixed is do the oven trick (google it).

Thanks gregster. I've tried all that except the oven trick. Will save that for a last resort I think :P

Even though i've almost had this card 2 years, i've emailed EVGA tech support, see what they can do. Technically it does have a 2 year warranty...

Better for you to use the onboard GFX whilst you get a replacement from EVGA. Hopefully it is within your warranty period. EVGA are great and they keep an eye on these forums. Hopefully one of them will spot your problems and give you some good advice.

evga_Lee or evga_Nick are the men to help :)
