Xbox "DURANGO" dev kit sold on e-bay

Surely it'll be no use to anybody?

I would bet that any early development hardware would be just a normal PC with a defined hardware spec that is as close representation of the final production spec of the '720' as possible, so whoever's just bought it will probably have just bought an overpriced PC, probably.

Whilst technically it will be just a restricted spec PC that as you said will be what the "720" will be running once released or as close as possible it won't just be that. It will have all the software and gubbins required to create games that will work on the system. In theory if an indie dev got hold of it or someone really rich with a hobby of making his own games they could start making "720" games now themselves thatll actually work on the real console once released lol. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me but it would be pretty cool to say you had one lol

Plus if the rumours are true itll be a very powerful speced PC

LOL Judging by the pics its a Supermicro Server/Workstation. I was also under the impression that the dev kits for consoles are licenced rather than sold.

I can't imagine it's real, all those kits will be locked down tight.

Nah it is definitely real.

This has been in the news for a while now, with screen shots and leaks being confirmed from devs as being the real deal. I believe Eurogamer has a short interview with the seller too. Saying that I guess it all depends if the seller is the same guy, but I think he is.

Last week he released a shot showing kinect 2.0's level of detail when scanning players.

God knows how he acquired it:)

Surely MS wouldn't allow this to happen in the first place? For anyone to get hold of kit like this they'd presumably have to be a trusted individual within MS or a developer in the first place.

It's hard to imagine this is legit, anyone given the kits at this stage would be well aware of the legal ramifications for leaking info let alone selling the thing! What if ms recalls the kits? And surely each kit would have some sort of serial code on it for traceability (well that's what I would do)

The whole things seemsa bit sketchy to me, the seller is not meant to have a great deal of credibility but ah well. We may see more in the future.

I thought it was confirmed that no one was working with nVidia for next gen consoles because they couldn't stand having to work with them?

does d3d11=dx11 or is it just a part of dx11
