*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Hehe grata, somehow ended the night 200k into 44, then got the BH to 15, think Mercenary & Shadow work well for me, so different from each other that it's hard to tear yourself off it and go for the other, really like both classes, especially trying t be a bit of a healer on the Mercenary.

Milanochris, at worst come on over and we'll get something started, just for the social info thing else, off topic but you still got your 'Teg? :D

Wow what a game, started today and I am totally hooked. Think my life is over

If you've never played an MMO, or WoW before, and loved the original KotOR games I will agree. All I can say is don't rush into everything and enjoy exploring the world, especially as F2P is coming, so there will be no pressure to overplay due to getting your monthly subscription's worth.

I just wish the other issues experienced later on in the game were dealt with more haste :(

In pre level 50 PvP Warzones, is the Expertise stat needed at all as everyone is supposed to be on a level playing field until they hit 50?? I’m just wondering If I should use my Warzone Coms on the Expertise weapons at all at the moment.

Expertise will certainly help you below 50 but I'm not sure how much you can even stack sub 50 and whether it's worthwhile.

I know for a fact that expertise is the most important pvp stat, by quite a large margin too. Make sure you pick up the recruit set as soon as you hit 50.

Just thinking about this. If you're looking at the best way to gear up I'd recommend you convert your warzone comms into rated ones whenever possible and try to be capped with your warzone comms when you hit level 50, this way you'll be able to pick up the recruit set and a few battlemaster / warhero pieces straight away which will make the transition much easier for you.

Going into warzones at level 50 with bad gear is a painful experience, expect to die. A lot. When I see a player with anything less than 15k health I'll mark them up because I know I can take them out in about 5 seconds (if the crit god is being generous), this way you essentially turn the game into a 8 v 7 match.

Oh, also when your gear is horrible please do not be tempted to defend points - especially solo. You may think you're being more helpful this way taking a role that other players may not want but if I see a solo defender with anything less than 20k health I'm going to go and kill it then cap. In fact you should never solo defend regardless. If you have two players with bad gear defending I will kill you both and then cap. Basically if your gear is bad you're better off being in the main skirmish.

That post is partially why i don't wanna ding 50 in a way, I play Warzones a lot, and just feel I'm going to be totally gimped.

Is it single to after normal WZ COmmenations to ranked ones without playing ranked matches then?

Can you even get expertise pre-50??

Expertise obviously helps a lot, but depending on the player it's not the be all and end all - I used to PvP in Rakata gear and often topped the scoreboards on damage and won games; so meh!

The recruit set you get for free at 50 is a good intro to gear and enough to start Warzone'ing with ease, once you've done a few dailies/weeklies you'll easily have BM Gear replacing it. It is more of a grind then PvE but it's not terrible to start of on Recruit.

The weapons on the pvp vendor have mods with expertise, only way to get the stat before 50.
However, it's not worth using comms on those weapons, as previously said keep converting to ranked comms whenever you cap your normal comms while levelling.

You get the recruit set basically handed to you at 50 these days so you grit your teeth and grind to the battlemaster set with that, then you can start swapping the BM stuff for war hero stuff.

Expertise is not important pre 50 as you can't get enough of it to make a meaningful difference. The best thing to do is just keep your gear up to date and let the bolster system take care of you (the bolster system modifies your toons outputs by how up to date your gear is to your level).

Yea I got to Nar this morning; I think it's for any level that can travel planets (so about 15+?) if no combat i might grind it on all my toons.

Wonder if it resets or you can only do it once or something?

Finally got around to giving this a whirl last night, overall after the impressive pre rendered cut scenes were over, (which were pretty amazing) I was left with a game that look like it was stuck back in the 90's.

Graphics were erm, hmmm not what I expected. However, seemed easy enough to play, combat was a bit clunky I felt..

Wouldn't pay a sub for it, but i'll glady play a few story missions to kill a few empty hours.. Other then this, bit hit n miss in places..

Still shocked about the graphics though, really wasn't what I expected. It looked like a cross between clone wars cartoon and low texture mass effect lol

I think they were going for the 'It'll run on anything' school of graphic design. Unfortunately when it was released, it ran like crap on a lot of high end systems anyway.

They fixed this in a recent patch (and oh, wow, the difference) but I bet they lost a lot of initial subs pushing it out in the state they did.
