Retro console and games thread

:(. We don't have a Maplin over here. Thanks anyway, I'll just grab the ebay ones then :).

:(. Just checking, you know you need resistors to go with the led as well. If you aint got a Maplin there, thought I'd just check as you won't be able to just go in and grab what you need and I think that ebay shop will combine postage if you pick them up at same time.

And now the seller messaged me saying they do not wish to sell to me for them end prices!

:( surely that's the risk the seller not having a reserve , I am suprised eBay don't do anything about him not selling for that price , I have seen loads of people especially for mega drives boxed from eBay not getting what they won because seller won't sell for price it's sold for

It prob cost that guy £6 to post dreamcast and with fees he prob made himself £3 lol

Anyone know anything about cleaning/fixing the dreamcast laser? On my second DC now (first a mate spilt a pint into) and it's resetting a couple of mins into most games now (and blanking jet set radio like overly drunk girl at a party).

Bidding on a replacement unit just in case (£3 fix isnt a bad option) but I'm guessing there is an easy way to breath life back into my current DC (shenmue 2 to finish here!)

Plus I got my self Power Stone 2 (thank you iamtheoneneo) and hoping for a copy of sega bass finish PLUS FISHING ROD :D (just need a vga box for it and I am set to never have to go back out side)

Sounds like a power supply issue. Clean the pins on the power section that clips to the pins on the mainboard. There's also a pot you can adjust for the laser.

you may want to contact ebay on the phone for this one mate as i have been in a similar situation and they set the record straight and got the seller to sort his act out.....at the end of the day its a contract to buy/sell on both of your parts once he puts the auction up as he did without a reserve etc and you put a bid on agreeing to buy it. thats the way eBay will see it and should push him or at least try to make him fulfill the transaction.

the fact he didnt make what he wanted for it is irrelivent (sp? sorry its early)!

a mate in work gave me a ps2 for the collection, I've not had one before. I thought Id have a quick look in the local cash convertors for games, 6 games for a tenner!

Picked up 6, metal gear solid 2, castle wolfenstein, onimusha, maximo army of zin, onimusha2 and soul calibur 2.

I'll probably go back this weekend, any decent games I should look out for?

Silent Hill 2 & 3, Jak and Daxter/Jak 2 & 3, Every Ratchet and Clank other than Gladiator, Persona games and Final Fantasy X. There are more but I can't think of them right now :p.

Devil May Cry 1 and 3. Not so much 2.
Gran Turismo 3 or 4
Dragon Quest 8 Journey of the Cursed King.
Final Fantasy 10 and 12.
Resident Evil 4
Burnout 2 (My favourite Burnout game)
Any of the Timesplitter series. Needs a few mates to play though
God of War 1 and 2.

There are way too many to list but that should get you started.

Shock Troopers or Metal Slug 2.

I'm so foolish with money when it comes to my hobby and I may end up buying both anyway. :D Hopefully the Tumble pop Jamma board will show up today.
