This worked for me too. Took me ages to stumble into it though.
Seriously what is going on with this game? I bought a key for it this morning and all of the settings are reverting back to defaults? Apparently it has something to do with a patch that was released and has totally broken all of options for the game.
Its' running on my relatively decent spec like a bag of the proverbial because it must be maxxing out all of the settings. Total disappointment so far.

For those iof you that bought on steam, do you need to load TF2 for the items to appear?
He opens the door to jump to another car as well. Hold A behind a car then push it again when the arrow goes green and he jumps to the car and takes it over. So much fun.
This so far is GOTY for me, there is just so much in the game. I spent hours last night just driving around taking over cars and trying to beat my wheelie record on a bike.

Can't even play this game. It's like the menu thinks the down arrow key is permanently pressed and it cycles through all the menu options constantly. Can see a few other people with this problem but no solution.
You don't have a controller plugged in do you? Or some other peripheral that is causing it? ....noob question I know, but it is a common problem
im hunting the health shrines and blue cases to find all the hidden cash its fun trying to find them but that camera really doesn't help i have to keep stopping to look in alleys as i run past them to get a good view so frustrating when other games you can just spin the camera while running straight still.

Best way is to edit the actual DisplaySettings.xml with Notepad++ in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SleepingDogs\Data\
Pretty simple values to change e.g. 0 Being normal - 1 Being High and 2 Being Extreme.
Got mine to the optimum settings finally XD. Admins in their forums have said there will be a fix for it at some point aswell

Logitech G25 steering wheel was the culprit, more specifically the pedals (clutch and accelerator) were acting as the up and down arrow keys.

It happened to me too and the game was unplayable. Someone pointed me to a website with a fix that worked for me.

You can't max this game with your rig? Wtf, as great as the game looks and however fun it might be, it just seems like another poorly optimized mess. Your rig should blow these level of visuals out of the water without topping 80C.
