Just went from an rx8 to a e92 320d ...completely different animals but the road tax and fuel costs were a killer in the RX8...though I love it

You could, maybe stretch the budget for an early e46 M3 is you want a real step up from the Rx8

A beautiful sports coupe (RX8) or a hot hatch Focus. I personally think two different cars. However unless you want major servicing costs with the RX8 the Focus might suit you better.

Whats confused you. Sports coupe, hot hatch.

RX8's can cost a mint if they go wrong the also struggle to average 25mpg, Fords are traditionally cheaper to repair and will be far cheaper to run.
