"One of the world's largest gaming publishers and developers Electronic Arts has quietly put itself up for sale. While there have already been talks with private equity companies, the talks have not resulted in anything concrete. One of the sources is saying that EA would do the deal for $20 per share (currently at $14.02). Over the past year, EA's stock price has fallen 37 percent. Like other major game publishers, EA has been struggling against growing trend of social and mobile gaming."

EA has been struggling against it's own reputation, there is nothing stopping them moving in to the social and mobile gaming markets, even porting over their old games to the new platforms.

First to say it...

GabeN

Not that he would..

Would he?

Excluding GabeN, the last thing needed is more money men bungling their way into the gaming industry. They never do any good.

Awaits Michael Pachter announcing some speculative ******** imminently.

What does $20 a share value them at? Wikipedia reckons Gabe is worth $1.5B...

(Though I admit the purchase is unlikely)

As far as i can tell EA has a total of 5,952,561 shares, valued at $20 i guess that puts the company @ $119.05122 (£75.8674611) ... as opposed to the current share low of $13.69 when markets closed today ... $81.4905601 (£51.9312771)

Edit: As proven down below i have no idea what im talking about re: share amounts :P

Then again just because Gabe is 'worth' 1.5B dosnt mean he can turn that into liquid at any given time.

Also dosnt mean the shares cover the entire entity of EA, its a big company with i guess many satellites so who knows what you would actualy get for that price, besides 7,645 employees and dependancys and one hell of a damaged reputation.

Tbh he would be better off buying up Onlive and incorporating that into Steam.

Gaben probably has a spare billion or so. :p

EA being run by Business men to be sold and run by some other Business men. Can't see anything changing other than the company becoming more fragmented. Will probably be it's eventual demise.

i would go doolally if 'road rash:source' suddenly appeared on steam as a pre-order!!

Doolally isn't the word. I would tear off my clothes and run into the street, first motorbike I seen, I would "enter" it's exhaust pipe so hard I would fold in half backwards then blink out of existence.

Heres a link for EA shares. Its a public company so in theory its always up for sale, depends who holds the largest amount of shares

http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/ea

Says $4bn market value

google says similar http://bit.ly/SBGKCy

Top holder has not even 10% of EA and sold off 2% in last quarter. I guess nobody is the owner of EA currently exactly, so I wonder if they need to raise cash from a rich investor perhaps
