AMD Catalyst 12.8 (8.982.0 July 27) AMD Official WHQL

Most people don't. If you add up the number of people posting about problems on English forums you have several hundred out of how many million users? With all possible hardware combinations plus all possible software configurations here's bound to be the odd one that just doesn't work.

Very few people give credit when something works as intended. Almost everyone complains when it doesn't.

Very true.

Well i took the plunge again with 12.8.
Removed 12.3 ran CCleaner checked registry etc, installed 12.8 and MSI afterburner ticked the option "force constant voltage" un ticked hard ware acceleration in FF.
Card is still Oc @ 1000/1300 been running for the past couple of hours playing Sleeping dogs not one Grey screen or screen flicker when browsing.
Imo i'd say its the 2d-3d voltage change in CCC thats the problem, at least its not the actual cards.

Have a sapphire 7870 oc and I went back to 12.4, these were giving me dreadful frame rate drops in diablo 3, league of legends and slight drops in battlefield 3.

Seems crazy considering they took so long to arrive.

On a side note, those gtx660's are really tempting, especially the MSI one. Going to make the jump if I can flog my 7870.

Working OK for me, GPU acceleration is working again in VLC. However GPU acceleration in Flash is not :p Was working with the last few drivers. No big deal I guess.

I updated yesterday and it's working fine with my 6870, tested most of my games with no HDMI audio or performance issues so far. Strangely I did get a BSOD when uninstalling the old driver tho.

another hot day in nottingham. Few hours of BF3 and no bsods :)
Best drivers since 12.4

A couple of questions I did try these but I am having a few bf3 freezes not sure weathers it's this driver.
Anyway I have gone back to the 12.7 beta, my question is in after burner is it meant to say 9.14.10.0924 catalyst 11.12? I'm not using CCC just using the drivers.
Thanks

Really happy with the 12.8's thus far and they've sorted out various display issues (browser flicker & horizontal lines in some game loading / menu screens) I've had since either 12.3 or 12.4 when running 2d clocks @120hz over DVI.

And you left all your Overclocks in place.
I would have dropped the GPU OC and if the problem still persists i would have backed off the CPU/RAM ect,,, OC.
If then freezing stops then you know that the new driver doesn't like the current level of OC on the system.

So you're saying that the overclock which was previously stable should be toned down because a driver release made it unstable?

Great if it works but not a very satisfactory conclusion overall.

It not about being satisfied or liking it and its not the job of the drivers to mask unstable systems.

And what your saying is like my system was stable until i ran Prime, Prime should be stable with my OC because loads of other software is, (oh please make everything stable with the OC i want) :( .
Yo don't have a right to any stable overclock unless its stated, so yes many people are not happy or satisfied with overclocks they achieve, that's just tough luck and welcome to the world of PC overclocking as its seems you have just arrived with that comment.

Thanks for you replies and I understand what your both saying but I think most people like Rusty was pointing out would like their overclock and an older driver than a new one and having to run stock, so for the moment I will go back to the 12.7 beta and see.

Indeed that's your choice.
My OCs used to be rock stable in WindowsXP, but when i put Vista 64bit on it, that went out of the window, heck that's just not satisfactory is it now, come on Microsoft, i have a right to that OC, im going back to XP until Microsoft can make Vista 64bit more stable with my OC.
At the end of the day if your not losing out staying with 12.7 beta then there is no point going 12.8.
Its the job of the Hardware to be stable with OCing not the OS or Software.

But you're missing the point that the OC was stable before the driver update.

This is nothing to do with choosing an OC and testing for stability.

It's seems like you're doing anything but blaming the driver which to me looks to be the cause of his particular issue.
