Lance Armstrong charges

10 former teams mates and officials will testify against Armstrong.

Armstrong supporters will say they are all liars???

Sad day for cycling and professional sport as a wider going interest.

It would be good to see the back of this, whatever the result.

This is total horse****.

There's plenty of cyclists who've doped and cycling has always had an EPO problem which has gone away somewhat.

I don't see how they can take his titles away.

Just stupidity.

meh bad stuff, There is no way he should have his titles stripped, doped or not he still earned the right to have those wins and hes still a massive athlete.
but congrats to Armstrong for telling them to shove it, the whole process has been completely unfair and makes an enitre mockery of the doping testing.
100s if not thousands of tests that man has had - all of them clean , yet a few snitches is all it takes to bring someone down with zero evidence , these people must be so proud of themselves.

I'm not in favour of punishment in hindsight i.e. stripping his titles away.
Makes the doping bodies look bad as they should have caught it at the time. Not years later....

Instead of putting all this money into making an embarrassment of the doping bodies and armstrong - put the money in making sure you learn why you missed it!? Prevention is better than cure surely?

He tested positive at the tour of switzerland apparently (hincapies quote) so was anything done about it?

hearsay yada yada

so he had hundreds of tests over many years all clean then becuse a few ex colleagues say "i saw him dope yada yada" they can charge him

makes a mockery of everything

There is no test for autologous blood transfusions do he'd have a hard time testing positive.

So you think Lance Armstrong, a man not exactly known for quitting, would just give up this fight and concede defeat?

I don't think so.

The idea that he never tested positive so he wasn't a doper is ridiculous. Loads of those riders from his generation never tested positive but either later admitted it or were involved implicated in Puerto/Festina.

I don't agree with stripping his titles though. You would probably have to go outside of the top 5 of the tour to give those titles to another rider who was clean.

ISn't it more a case of a few ex colleagues say "I saw him dope yada yada" and they all get more favourable situations in terms of bans for doping offences, they can charge him?

It comes across as a witch hunt with no proof in the slightest with witnesses who are all cheats who were given the option of giving up a bigger name in return for more lenient punishment. if he's going to be found guilty anyway, there really is no point fighting it. When an association is paid/funded and there is no money in top athletes being innocent, only money in big cases, big names going down and lots of press for certain people it comes across as incredibly... dodgy.

Maybe he cheated, maybe he didn't, but the way its all set up seems even more ridiculously unfair than the criminal justice system in most countries.

Afaik none of the guys testifying was facing a ban before they agreed to testify. Their bans are a direct result of them coming forward. If they had just shut up then they would still be competing as normal but they code to come forward and accept the consequences.

About time this is over. Hopefully the sport can try and move on yet again.

As for drugs cheats having their winnings stripped, I don't see why not, it happens in athletics!

Lance has basically admitted fault by giving up, heck this is someone who wouldn't give up to cancer, why would he give up to some apparent two bit allegation... why, because he knows its true.

A good read...
