Guild Wars 2

My friend is having a lot of trouble running the game on his ancient PC.

He's getting ~5 FPS with everything on minimum. Does anyone have any tips for boosting FPS? Already updated graphics card drivers.

He has an Intel Core 2 6600, ASUS EAH5570 and 4GB Ram, which I believe is well above the minimum requirements.

Update: It looks like the ASUS EAH5570 is essentially a 5570, worth trying to use ati drivers rather than ones specifically for the ASUS EAH5570 which haven't been update since december 2011?

Finally, character created, tutorial done, ah now I can relax! :D

Asura thief, same username as here, on Desolation.

One question, is there any way to invert the right mouse button camera toggle? I want it set permanently on, and shift+click or something to use the cursor. Movement is very clunky otherwise.

Ok just been reading around, seems there isn't an option for mouselook without holding right click at all... :( What kind of nonsense is that!

Might have to resort to using autohotkey or something; camera movement is horrible otherwise.

It would be nice if you could set mouselook on as default, then hold shift + left/rightclick to target things and interact.

Wow... GW2... the world's first MSORPG!

It's a massive single player game, 'cos I can't actually play with friends!
We leave town and all get thrown into our own overflows - none of us have ever seen anyone except in town.

Surely this was an issue in beta weekend 1 - they fixed it and we never experienced it in beta weekend 2.

What an utter fail to have this issue on the launch weekend!
Come on

Got in for about 15mins this morning, Deadbeat was already taken so I settled for Dead Beat (huzzah for two part names!). The important bit is the abbreviation (Dead) or the initials (DB) which I generally respond to, so I'm not too fussed about anything else. Probably spent about an hour getting those 15mins of playtime though though, Windows Firewall caused all sorts of problems (PoS - now disabled) and I had quite a few black screens and time-outs before getting a good run, then my gf tricked me into going to the shop for cat litter and when I got back she was playing a human engineer :(. Ah well, had to sleep most of the day anyway, still got 12.5hr shifts tonight and tomorrow night to get through before I'm off on Monday.

I went with Ring of Fire because Johnny Cash.

First event was cool, now level 2 and waiting for my friend to logon :D

So you would rather have 6hr queues? Get over it.

Is anyone getting like weird lag? I can move and chat, but other pcs, enemies etc dont move.

edit: can anyone tell me how long this free transfer thing is active for and provide source? I've gone to a dead server in order to play. ty!

Finished for the night, despite the login problems and the one crash i had i managed to get to level 13, and my brother got to 15 so were doing pretty well. Its a really good game so far, i just end up running off doing one of thoes many dynamic quest when im meant to be off doing something else:D
It really does discourage you from grinding with the low exp and encourages you to get it elsewhere. I get a lot more exp from exploring view points and point of interest than spending my time grinding.
Anyway awesome game, i hope tomorrow the login problem will have improved.

Everyone had that, It wasn't actually windows firewall, It's just that nobody could log in.

No, I was getting a different error code. Once I disabled the firewall I got the 42:xxx code that other people were getting and spent another 20mins or so getting my request through to the login server, until then it was something else that didn't seem so common - a few others had got it, but it wasn't too common from what I found.

Best MMO launch ever for me, been in nearly all day without any issues that have affected me, spent most of the day in WvW, already level 20 :D
