You know i haven't seen a single Wasp at all this year, which isn't a bad thing as i hate the little *******, is this down to the bad Summer we've had?

No wasps and only a few bees, i like bees because i think they're adorable and make honey for us. But wasps can **** off this planet for all i care

Aye got stung in bed a couple of years ago while alseep by a Wasp it's life was ended quickly.

Bee's pollinate, Wasp just like to torment & stick their backside's into people.

From interwebs:

"Wasps are actually beneficial insects for humans and the environment. They are one of the major natural scavengers, and they eat insects such as flies and caterpillars that are often considered pests to humans. They should be left alone if they are in a location where they are not bothering people. Some wasps pollinate plants and crops, but most do not."

"Although most people think of wasps as pests, they benefit mankind and the environment in many ways. They help control arthropod pests (flies, caterpillars, bugs, spiders, etc.) by preying on them. This really does help to cut down on the use of harmful pesticides. This is healthier for our environment in the long run. Wasps are also used in research and experiments. In some places in the world, people use the immature stages (larvae and pupae) of wasps as food for a good source of protein. Therefore, the benefits to humans far outweigh the harm which they do."

Give the poor wee guys a break. :p

I saw a couple in the garden yesterday... then again some might have been bee's because they can look similar. Other than that, I've not seen any all summer.

As for that post above, I'd rather deal with an extra spider or two than an evil flying venom dispenser.

Everything in nature exists for a reason, and if there were tomorrow suddenly no wasps it would likely cause havoc for the insect ecosystem and lead to a sharp rise in garden and crop pests, and thus a big increase in the need for using pesticides. Stings suck, but it's not really that common on an individual level... last time I was stung was years ago!
