Guild Wars 2

I found GW1 horrible, but they are completely different games, not really sure what to compare it to tbh, but I've played most mmo's and theres only 2 games that I would pay subscription for, this and WoW, and seeing as this doesn't have a subscription it's really worth getting imo.

Thanks Tune, like you I have played every MMO out there. The only one I keep going back to is WOW. What are people going for? Digital Deluxe or just normal?

I went for normal, theres a gem store on here seeing as theres no sub, and you can upgrade to digital deluxe through there if you fancy it later.

There's some XP to be had from crafting as well, something like 10 levels by lvl80?

Found a pretty good guide to explain it for anyone that's not tried it yet.

I cant seem to verify my account at the moment. Just downloading the client, it send a verification email but when i click it says the link is invalid or out of date. Anyone seen that?

*EDIT*

If you're having trouble verifying your email address, you can play without verifying your email address by clicking "Play" on the Guild Wars 2 Launcher if you already downloaded the client. We're working to fix email verification, and you can verify your address once we do.

Downloading at 7.4MB/s so should not be too long :)

Anyone else find that after they have looked at the map the fps drops a lot. I find I am going from 50ish fps to 20ish, but if I alt tab out of the game it go's back to normal.

I'm not sure how the de-levelling works but say I'm level 20 and get de-levelled to level 8, I seem to be far more powerful than I actually was at level 8.

I love how you're not restricted in the way you choose to level though. Follow your personal story through each are? No problem. Run around 100%ing all noob areas? No problem. Craft? No problem. The fact that you can WvW at any level has taken massive pressure off needing to rush and play catch up. I just hope there is longevity in the game for those who play hardcore so the game doesn't get ruined by them complaining about lack of endgame.

I just installed it via the 2 DVD's and now it's downloading over 60k files.

Wonder if it'll slip up and let me play today? Fat chance.

Yeah, you're still a lot better at level 8 when you get de-levelled, but yeah, I went back to a starting place and killed people a hell of a lot faster than actual people that level could.

Also I'm looking forward to end-game seeing as I'm a pretty big pvp'er, and I can just focus on that instead of leveling, + I want to make gold + craft :P

I couldn't agree more. I'm usually one of those who rush at bit to get to cap when an MMO launches so i can be competitive for my guild, with GW2 i'm just pottering around taking it all in and it's such a breath of fresh air.

I had cancelled my order as i didn't think i'd have the time to play another MMO but still had the 3 day early start, needless to say i've re-ordered it :)

epic event, catch it if you can not sure how often it gets spawned, mega loot at the end too! (like a massive chest with 6+ items in it)

haha, I was lucky to find that event last night too:)

I hit 25 this morning on my ele, not really trying too hard, just being methodical, working my way through the various starter areas.. four down, one to go. Still a little miffed that three of the skill challenges dont work in darnas.. sorry, I mean the sylvari starter area, preventing me from getting 100%, but oh well, mustn't grumble eh?

Moved onto a quieter server, as the better part of me seems to want to play there, so I have to go keep her company, or was that keep her out of trouble? one or the other..

All in all, very well worth the wait I reckon..
