Guild Wars 2

What am I supposed to do with all the little crafting items I pick up like bone and teeth and stuff? I just keep selling them because they get in the way in my inventory.

You'll be screwed if you ever decide to pick up a crafting profession - you need a ton of mats :p.

I don't really understand the comparison to WoW in the number of skills you have available. Sure, WoW classes may have 30+ skills you slap on your slot bar, but how many of them do you actually use? There are some buffs that you cast maybe once an hour, maybe a heal for out of combat use, some aura switching that you do to plan ahead (aspects for hunter, auras for DKs/Palas, stances for Warriors, animal forms for Druids and so forth), often a res that you may well never use and your hearthstone, mount, crafting shortcuts and so on. Actual in-use combat skills are pretty minimal - a handful to use for single target DPS, a handful for AoE and a couple of panic buttons/cooldowns. Healing isn't any better off with 5 or 6 useful skills that you default to and cooldowns on top, tanking I've never really done but it may be a bit more complex.

Compared to that, I use so many skills on my elementalist that I wouldn't be able to find enough shortcuts for them without key combos (alt+#, shift+# etc) or the tabbing skill bars that switch between elements. I can roll backwards and leave a line of fire to hurl combo finisher boulders through, keep foes near constantly blinded with the right mix of utility skills and element switching, dive into a pack on a bolt of lightning and drop a burning ring and an explosion that sets everything on fire or knock them all down with an earthquake and blast a bleeding effect on them all, knock them on their arse, grasp them with vines and drop a shard of ice on them, drop a healing geyser and blast healing on nearby allies - all in the same skill set. It's not the number of skills you have available to you, it's the way you use them - something that isn't really possible with WoW or any other MMO that I've played.

Maybe you're playing your class wrong, or maybe you're playing the wrong class?

Tip for ppl who have there passwords reset by someone or need to change there password
If ur account is linked with ur old guildwars 1 account u can login to that and change it which will also change ur gw2 password ;)

What do you get by linking your GW and GW2 accounts? Mine are linked but I had no stone so I went to Lions Arch and got one. Been to the HoM and there's a couple of locked chests there. Am I supposed to have access to some item or something?

well I've been playing since 3day headstart and my highest level character is only 16 :p

made an engineer today and couldn't stop playing PvP it's a monster of a class and nearly took down the enemy base solo... with a little help from turrets and the emergency drop !!

You guess right, so far I am greatly enjoying it. Would enjoy it a whole lot more if I could get into the WvWvW though. Queued for it for 7 hours yesterday without managing to get in, not sure if its something I am doing wrong or just something wrong with the queuing or what.

My biggest grumble was that it was awkward trying to keep a group together through the overflows and what have you, but that seems to have been largely fixed now so happy in that regard.

I do still have a few niggles, like for instance I would like to be able to change the chat channel colours, traditionally I always have guild chat in green and its bugging the hell out of me not having it in green. I would also like some way to put "notes" on the map for future reference. But those are minor things which may well be addressed.

Loving the whole run around and just do whatever aspect, much prefer it to the speak to NPC with indicator over his head, kill 5 bungiejumpers and return to him for reward etc. Absolutely love being able to dye my clothes anywhere at anytime just using the interface. Love the deposit to bank from anywhere option. Loving the aesthetics, there are some really fantastic screenshot material places.

Would like to see a few more skills on the classes, but I imagine those will come in time with patches and expansions or whatever. Loving how helpful other players are, people always willing to come over and revive you and so on.

Its a touch laggy at peak times and has some stabilitity issues, but its first week of release and populations are at max because of that, so thats understandable and I can live with that. Loving the emblems on armour etc, reminds me of Daoc with the emblems on armours etc, hoping you can have cloaks with the emblems on like in Daoc too.

Overall, very positive, since the partying issue was corrected my missus has become firmly addicted and has been putting in massive amounts of hours (like 7 or 8 a day) just running around gathering as much of every crafting resource as possible for my guildies. Looking forward to introducing her to WvW (I'm only really interested in the WvW, not overly interested in the esports version of the pvp, its the more daoc like WvW that perks me :) )

Glad you're enjoying it mate, what server you on?
