Funnily enough, there's a lot of aircraft that use a lot more runway than the A388 even at maximum take-off weight. The B744 at about 400 tonnes take-off weight requires just over 3,000m of runway for takeoff - while the A388 at 570 tonnes only requires 2,900m. The 777-300 requires more runway than the A388 as well (despite weighing a good 40% less at MTOW).
