Toyo T1R Proxes 195-50-15 tyres £29.89 + £2.99 p+p @CamSkill

How light? I have a 1060kg car and they just understeer at the slightest provocation, wheel spin on a torquless wonder and make Mr Blobby look like Rambo in his hay day :p

get your pressures or suspension fixed unless your exaggerating of course...

plenty of grip from T1Rs , its the weak sidewalls people dont like

T1R
185/55/15 £47.50
195/45/15 £49.95
195/50/15 £29.89
205/45/15 £64.95
205/50/15 £57.95

Not seeing it myself, apart from the 50 profiles.

What are you on? Those are all cheap!

Soft sidewall is fine on tyres the tread pattern, compound and generally rubbishness of the T1R though made them a cheap and rubbish tyre on the Mondeo. Loads of people recommend them for the Mondeo as they are 'brilliant'....they really aren't.

I had the same problems Muffin had, lack of grip, wheel spinning, dodgy braking etc. changed to Conti Sport Contact 3s and lo and behold the car actually handles and performs well and safely.

I had a discussion/argument with some people over on E30Zone the other day as they all rave about them too. I said they were poor and my E30 will have decent tyres on it when it is on the road like CSC3s and their response was that 'yeh but those aren't cheap which is why they are better'. Great, so what it actually boils down to is they are a very cheap tyre and that's the only thing they have going for them. They may be better than Linglongs but in all honesty with my experience and the experience I trust from various members here they are in fact no better than Linglongs apart from being a more known name.

I'm really surprised at the negativity about them here. I don't do enough mileage to be going through loads of different tyres to be able to compare, but I really have no issues with mine.

Car had 16" wheels with bridgestones on (potenzas on the front, turanzas on the back). Replaced the wheels with 17s with new T1Rs all round - grip, braking and wet handling are all really good. The bridgestones were on the low side but weren't lacking in tread. Admittedly there's not enough power to really test them, but these definitely seem just fine. No doubt something like contis would be better but I'm quite happy with these. Given the price (60 odd quid a corner, down from 80), I'm pretty pleased with them and they're DEFINITELY better than budget ditch finders. The tread pattern looks quite cool too

**** i cant complain. I had set for 1.5 year on my ITR now and around 4k miles ( i got nowhere to drive :D ) i did 2 track days on them. They seem fine. But i got Apexi N1 suspension + other mods and that might be why they fell good :P.

You were saying that they were only popular because they were cheap, i posted the prices to show that they were the same price as other tyres of that size, just that the 50 profile was a price oddity.

We had no problems with them on the 306 or Corsa, but those weren't driven "in anger" but were used in all weathers and the wife never caused a crash.

Incorrect. Hurfdurf said they were cheap for a reason, I agree with what he said and explained my views on them.

I never drove the Mondeo in anger with them on, due to them being poor especially so in the wet on my normal commute. So I'd rather spend £100 (actually the CSC3s are £75ish) a corner on tyres that don't make me think I'm going to die. :)

Garbage tyre and I rue the day I listened to people who said they were good. They are cheap for a reason.

bout time we heard the truth. I do not understand how they are rated so well, oh probably because they are half the price of a CS3/5 or any top performing tyre.

They are pretty good on my Westfield :-)

You won't get much lighter.

I have them on the back of my car and had them on the front.

I found they seemed to understeer more and got worse in the rain. I swapped onto the Michelin PE2 and I'd say they feel a lot better! Certainly wet roundabouts I can turn in and not be afraid it's sliding across into the next lane.

My bad, i just saw your responce and assumed it was your comment i was "working with" (it's been a long week!)

Midrange tyre in "not performing as well as performance tyres twice the price" shocker ;)

About £10 more for the CSC3 than the T1R for the Mondeo...hardly a leap in costs. ;)

The point is more that lots of people rave about them being brilliant and being better than midrange and budget. I personally found them to be worse than midrange and they sit firmly in budget in terms of performance. Some budgets I've had on previous cars have inspired a huge amount more confidence than the T1Rs in fact.

No... they aren't...

They're unsuitable for heavy cars due to soft sidewalls... on things like MX5s and other lightweight things - they're by far the best performance/£

I'd only pay extra for A048s/R888s

EDIT:
In comparison to the Eagle F1's I wanted to replace and was recommended compared well with them, they are absolute garbage on my MX5, which is pretty light.

Then there's something wrong with your wheels or car!

I found the Eagle F1s worse on an MX5...

T1-Rs are recommended for the '5s for a reason... they're damn good, especially for the money.

I'm having trouble finding CSCs in this size??

wow this does seam cheap considering i just spent £340 on a set of 4 Proxes for the track car :/ but those are 17's.

These things turn our track car into a different animal and i can highly recommend them!

I'm running Volk TE37's, the car is set up well, the only change I made was from Eagle F1's to T1R's, and the car has gone from giving me loads of confidence to having very little and having to watch myself a lot more, feeling it all come unstuck far earlier when pressing on.
